Bullitt on TCM right now, almost 9pm eastern US time. One of the best car chases ever.
Funny but I never thought this was "a great movie". After the car chase the movie is as slow as a snail crawl. Steve is very robot like "just a cop doing his job"sort of thing. No emotion. The chase bit is a classic. However there are too many repeat shots of the same action shot (how many times does he pass the same VW bug?) from different camera which makes it look fake as are the constant "gear shifting" sound effects while at high speed. And the final crash into a gas station which explodes into a nuclear ball of flame is sort of eye rolling. The mustang crash though is very well done.
