I am running into the problem mentioned in similar threads that the rubber bows out when it makes the sharp turn at the corner where the bumper turns into the grill. I can get it close but I noticed the flanged seam of the mating halves get wider right where the bend is. It is wider than the slot so it has to push it out. Several other original bumpers I have look the same. I am going to take one of the lesser bumpers and grind away the flared area to see if this improves the situation.

I ground the wide areas of the bumper flange tonight and that totally fixed the gap problem where the rubber edge meets the chrome. Wrapped good and tight around the radius as nice as could be. Wherever the flange was wider than the T-slot in the rubber there was a gap. Makes sense that as the flange gets wider than the slot it begins pushing the sides of the rubber out. Did it all with a cut off wheel and a Dremel and beveled he top edge to match the angle inside the rubber. I am going to have to do this to my just re-chromed NOS bumpers but protecting them should be easy by putting a wood paint stick in the groove in the flange. Would be nice to have a more elegant way to grind them but it all gets covered by the rubber.
