Hello, I recently had a rear bumper (308 qv) nicked in a parking lot incident, and it look like they are hard to find. ebay is showing some fiberglass replacements and I would like some imput regarding possible options. Is a fiberglass bumper all I would need to complete the job? Options on just back bumper or both? Painting necessary ? Any pictures would be appreciated. should i hold out for a stock replacement? thanks Larry
They're not that tough to find. Lots of folks like loosing the OEM American bumper. It is solid rubber. I found a reasonable used one through Wide World of Cars in Spring Valley NY. They had it shipped in from England. TRutlands had them for about $750 in 2012 One James Bath (PM me for his contact info) who runs a Ferrari parts company had one for like $400 that he wanted to sell me. But WWoC wouldn't cover the part under warranty if they didn't supply the part so I didn't go with Jim. Also, do a search here. You'll find some folks used assorted means to fix the bumper with Ski repair kits as I recall and plastic filler & a quick spray. I didn't try it. You may want to.
Larry any local body shop should be able to fix your bumper. The pics below shows when I had a little fender bender 6 years ago and you can see the the "after" result that my local body shop did. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
They did a nice job. When I had a small fender-bender - abrasions and a couple small dings - no shop including dealers would touch my rubber bumper saying the fix wouldn't last and they wouldn't be responsible. Hence, I replaced it.
Thanks Clyde, It's strange how the shop there don't want to touch your bumper. What are they afraid of? Anyway, at least it's fix now.
Thanks Clyde. Body shop or local bumper shop can fix. It should last just fine. Or contact Newman for a used one. Good luck!
Yes thanks Geno, this Honda civic rice rocket wanna be suddenly cut in front of me and slam his break for no reason.
I think my 1985 us qv rear bumper may still be lying around. Pm if interested. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
Hello, Including picture, there is a good chunk missing. also who is Newman? Larry Image Unavailable, Please Login
I am still looking around for a reasonably priced set of Euro Bumpers for my GTSI and my US Spec Bumpers are in near perfect condition, so PM me if this could work for anyone
BillyD in Seattle had a set of take offs for a long time. I'd get one before they are all used up, repair that one later, when you "have to"...check in with FerrParts. North American bumpers are solid steel bars coated in rubber, often the split themselves as rust creeps in.
Newman is Paul Newman, a Canadian who does MAGIC with 308s. He did Crowndogs 3.4 conversion and some of the best restoration work you will EVER see. He also did Brett Gagnons car and a few others around. AMAZING knowledge of the 308 and other Ferraris. Search for screename Newman or just check out the Crowndog 3.4L thread to find him. PDG
