Does anyone have a quick and simple fix for the overloaded earth connection in my fuseboard (1988 328 US model) I've been keeping an eye on this plug for a few months now and I think the scorch mark is getting worse. Is there a simple add on earth cable I could fix to relieve some of the load on this piece of classic italian electrical engineering or am I into a complete re-wire etc.

I've done a quick search as I remember reading about this before but con't seem to find the definitive answer. Any guidance would be much appreciated. (apologies for the lousy picture but you get the idea I'm sure)

    Thanks

That connector needs to be replaced and can be removed from the plastic block - push back the locking tab with a tiny screwdriver. I don't know if you can get one though. You will also have to clean and scrape the tab on the fusebox that attaches to that terminal. Use some dielectric grease on the connection. Even if you do this, I have seen the problem recur - just not a secure connection with high amps even when new. It is usually possible to remove and open up the fuse box and solder a wire directly to the circuit board, then make a slot or hole in the box to lead the wire out. Snip the corresponding wire to the connector. Add push-together connectors to these two wires and connect together. If you are lucky, you can do this in such a way as to not be too visible. Check all the other connectors, usually several are discolored.
