I overheated the clutch on my Ford Transit Connect van trying to reverse up a steep drive, at the top it was slipping when fully engaged. Since then it feels OK to use but will slip if provoked in third/fourth/fifth gear. I assume I have "glazed" the clutch. My question is, will it ever recover? I don't really want to replace it if I can get away with it, as it costs £700 (over $1,000) to replace the clutch on this van. I've done a few hundred miles and it still slips if I floor it at (say) 2,000 rpm and the turbo kicks in. It's not getting any worse, and after it has slipped a bit it stops doing it for a short time. I've investigated and some say it will never be OK while others say it will eventually go OK as I've melted the "binder material" and need to get back to undamaged lining by use of the vehicle.
