Business security system

I moved our business into a new location a while back and I am in the process of renewing my business insurance policy. For protection as well as a good insurance discount, I want to get a security system installed.

Can anyone recommend something? I have heard from the "pros" (including ex-thiefs) that the ADT/Brinks stuff is minor league and easily by-passable. I called around a little and some companies were talking multi-thousand dollar systems for a relatively small 6,000 sq-ft business with 2k sq-ft of offices and 4k sq-ft of shop space.

Honestly I am a "tech geek" and I would LOVE to do something with built in remote monitoring (like an X-10 setup or integrate with Homeseer or something). Anyone got any ideas or leads on manufacturers of equipment? I can have my guys install it no problem, but all I seem to find is proprietary systems or contracted systems where you get it cheap if you agree to X months/years of monitoring.
