Please remain calm, whomever you are supporting... Jenson Button: Fernando Alonso tougher to beat than Lewis Hamilton - F1 news - AUTOSPORT.com Rgds
More like moving into retirement. He is just trying to elevate himself. Now that he beat Alonso he must be the best driver EVER. Good luck to you Jens. Hamilton has a chance to add at least two more titles to his career while you and Alonso will be lucky to reach the podium before retirement.
That's probably true, but some would say the car itself plays a huge role in whether you have the opportunity to fight for championships or merely points. Hamilton wasn't anywhere close to being a repeat title contender for many years until the formula changed and he had the benefit of the dominant Mercedes engine. He would also be languishing at the back if he was in the McLaren-Honda right now. Button won the title the only year he was ever in a car capable of doing so and wasn't in the fastest car towards the end of the season, where the development power of the larger teams overtook BrawnGP. Button is a solid and highly underrated champion. Hamilton also hardly blew him away as an also-ran when they were both driving for McLaren... in fact, it was Button's consistency that saw him come out on top in the points haul over the whole three years: Hamilton and Button?s head-to-head record at McLaren // F1 News // James Allen on F1 ? The official James Allen website on F1 "...it was the elder Briton who ended the pairs three years as team-mates with the higher overall points tally 672 for Button compared with Hamiltons 657 points." While Hamilton had more DNFs, the difference in the number of those, as the article explains, was due to Hamilton suffering far more collisions. This was during his phase of emulating Senna and crashing into everyone, particularly Massa. Hamilton's an excellent driver, but I don't think he's that far ahead of other championship-winning drivers as his publicists would have us believe. I think relative skill levels are pretty similar amongst Hamilton, Vettel, Alonso, and Button, with the car itself being the deciding factor in recent years since parity of engine performance is non-existent. I am hopeful Ferrari closes the gap a bit more next year and there's more of a title fight between the drivers of different marques in 2016. All the best, Andrew.
+44 Exactly my opinion As always: if someone says something good on Hamilton it is presented as objective statement, if it is "against" then it is either to"elevate himself" or simply jealousy...
Elevate himself. You know Jensen personally?? Ridiculous. One of the most objective and intelligent people in F1. Useless your attempt to belittle him. Jensen has credibility you have an opinion, such as it is.
To ALL of the drivers.... https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0ahUKEwj786HD2a7JAhVH4GMKHZxtC44QtwIIHDAA&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DZTh4s86TQcM&usg=AFQjCNGKDA_d6DMbGx0J0vOngvjukNqMig&sig2=2JdhYoASTHNqrbjCrOiulw
Yeah yeah, of course, why would we ever think otherwise! Two more titles for Elton, who are you kidding, soon as the regs change or the other teams catch up, he is reduced to just another driver
Big difference between "a chance" to add or fight for two more titles and adding two titles. It seems like your hatred is getting in the way of understanding simple statements.
""In a race, it's a bigger challenge, I would say, a more consistent challenge," Button said. "He's always there. On some race days, Lewis was untouchable. And on other race days, it was like, 'where is he?'" Hamilton was less consistent then but always was significantly quicker than button in outright pace. Now he's sorted his issues I don't think it would be as close anymore
It was a reply to Jenson getting into Hamilton's head. I'm just stating the reality of the situation at McLaren. If you think he is in a position to play mind games then more power to both of you.
It's difficult to say now because they are experiencing different forms in different teams, but I have always suspected Alondo to be a better driver than Hamilton. Alonso's mistake is to be often in the wrong team at the wrong time, whilst it's the opposite for Hamilton.
Could see this coming........ "Button doesn't idolise Lewis the demigod. He must be an idiot!" and what is toil saying? "That was then, but now lewis has learnt how to drive"....I think that's what he meant. Peter is right...the fanbois always find an angle and flip flop their stories to whatever suits their agenda. I actually don't have a problem with it because I think it's hilarious.
Let's preempt anyone earning any bans, as it seems inevitable at this point, and close the thread. Sadly, Andrew.
