    Go back to wide slicks and increased the overall width of the cars (allow them to run wider suspension track) and then make the slicks harder to reduce the amount of marbles. The increase in tire width and track should increase mechanical grip enough to offset the reduction in softness/grip of the tires. The main thing is opening up more racing lines for the drivers to exploit. This is why racing in the rain is so much better.

    Yes ultimately the times would be slower but, would you really care if they're a second or two off if the racing is much, much better? I certainly wouldn't.

    ^Reduction of marbles is a good point I'd never thought of before.
