Button, what have you done? I had big respect for him and now he says this? I can only hope it was a tongue-in-the-cheek comment bloated up by a **** journo. Link: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1197554/I-m-best--Button-says-greatest-respect-rival-Hamilton.html Mind you, this is the daily mail LOL
I just had a good laugh at this too. Congrats on his success, but I'm not sure I'd be singing my own praises just yet.
For sure...he seems to be as self deprecating as one would expect from someone who has spent most of his career in (or near,) the back of the field.
Best ever at what...he hasn't come close to Hambone as a wackoff yet....and I can think of at le3ast 200 GP/F1 drivers that are/were better than him...
"Who's the best pilot you ever saw?" .... Why do I get the impression that, during the three week break, there's a whole lot of drinkin' goin' on? (Friends don't let friends interview drunk.)
If you don't believe you are the best ever at something, you have no business doing it. If you don't think you are the best ever, then you must think you are inferior. At my 'day job', I feel I am the best ever, don't YOU feel you are the best at what you do ? I also feel Jensen was either misquoted or taken out of context, just as Bernie's remarks are.
After about 5 rounds into the season he was quoted as saying he had expected a bigger lead in the championship at that point. Of course he had won 4 races at that point, so I would have to take it that it was a sarcastic comment. This comment is probably the same, just a joke considering if not for a bit of luck he would be watching the races at home this year. A few years ago Button was such an underachieving twit I couldn't understand why anyone would rate him even in the top half of F1 drivers in overall effectiveness. Honda poured money into F1, either they couldn't design a car or Button couldn't help develop one, or both. The planets have aligned for him this year, Ferrari and McLaren are weak and he is in an obviously superior car. He is making the most of his opportunities this year, so good for him. He should enjoy his time in the spotlight, I have a feeling next year the usual top teams will be back in front and BestEverButton will be lucky to score points.
Its good to see that Jenson has a sence of humor, unlike other driver out their that belives his own bull.
After watching him on Top Gear, im sure he said it as a joke. He isnt cold and boring as Kimi for example.
Button is really turning out to be an annoying little media whore. I hope he totally blunders the remaining season and Vettel wins the WDC.
Don't blame Button, blame the MEDIA. If he wasn't winning, the press would totally ignore him, but for some reason, the MEDIA likes winners. Only two years ago Kimi had a helluva drinking problem - dug up by - THE MEDIA. Today, Kimi is all-but ignored by the MEDIA. A year ago, Hamilton was the second coming of Senna, today - yep - ignored by the MEDIA.
Haha what a load of ****, now every journo will heckle him over this and his season will go to the ****
I have written long before about the fact that I have met Jens and he has acted arrogant at an entirely inappropriate time. Some on this board have also said that their personal experience was very different from mine--and I accept that. However, when asked the questioin by a prig reporter, I have NO PROBLEM with any F-1 driver saying that he considers himself the best at his job. These guys face death every time they get in the car (not being dramatic here). And, they have to have confidence--to the point of being cocky. If any of you have driven 200 mph (I have), then you know that it is a pretty, freaking nerve-tingling thing. It is flat out scary, and I couldn't go into Eau Rouge at 190 MPH, bottoming out like that. These guys are special--even the backmarkers. (OK, not Fisi.) Look, we all know that Jens is not the best, but why fault him for his confidence? Even though I don't particularly like him, the quote is OK with me.
