    Hello!!

I have been looking for a Ferrari Challenge few months ago. I will buy it before december 2006 but I would like to make some questions...

I do not know if I buy 360 Challenge F1 or 355 Challenge manual. It will be for track days and regional championship. I think 360 Challenge is faster, F1, more new... but more expensive too!
Ferrari 355 is beautifull, more cheaper than 360 but probably older and it will have more problems.

What do you think about it?

I live in Spain. Anybody recomended me a place to buy in Europe? I was speaking with USA dealer, he was very nice and car has atractive price but it is too far from my country!

By other way... I would like to rent a Ferrari 355 Challenge or a Ferrari 360 Challenge for track day. I pay all cost of course!! Anybody know if is it possible?

I am sorry for my bad english.

    Best regards,

    Enrique.

    Hello Enrique,

Challenge cars are great fun. Some 355s are over ten years old now and can be very tired. They have the usual problems valve guides, exhaust manifolds, and transaxles come apart. I would reccomend you see some real documentation establishing that the car has been maintained.
360s have their own concerns. Unless you have a dealership tech with you at the track owning an SD2 computer at the circuit can be a concern. Marelli Dashboards have internal batteries that should be replaced every two years, according to Marelli, and can only be done by Marelli agents. The hydraulic pump for the gearbox does wear and is expensive to replace. Again look for documentation.

wohhh!! thank you very much for the answer, David.

I know both cars has problems and satisfactions!

I think 355 Challenge is in the cheaper price possible at the moment, and it will not go down. But 360 Challenge is different, I think that car will get a better price in few month because Ferrari Challenge is now racing with 430 and 360, but 2007 season only race with 430. So I think I will find a lot of 360 Challenge for sale in few months, do you agree with me?

Do you know where I can buy or find one?
    I found teh next:

1.- Ferrari 360 Challenge in Spain. 95.000 euros.
2.- Ferrari 355 in USA. 50.000 euros. This car was driving for a lot of people.
3.- Ferrari 355 in north europe. 55.000 euros but this car has an accident, big accident, but now it is repaired.
4.- Ferrari 360 Challenge in Germany. 90.000 euros with GT extras.

I would like to check the cars... about USA 355 is very difficult because it is too far if I do not like it.
I would like to see more options before I decide.

Do you know where I can see more Ferrari Challenge cars in Europe?

    Thank you very much.

    Enrique.

I agree about the 355s being a bit old too. Back in 2000 there was an interview with a Challenge driver who had upgraded from running in the 355 to a 360. If I recall his exact words..he called his 355 a "wet noodle". I think it was in Forza magazine fyi.

Maintainence for the 360 is a little more and crash damage to a 360 is alot more.

At the end of the day, it boils down to what you want. Do you want a manual 6 speed or F1? Do you want a easier or harder car to drive? faster better? looks? ect...its all a matter of choice and something only you can decide.

If your running a challenge car and not competing at the highest level but for fun, cost is parmount. Either way be careful becuase a number of them have been trashed by HEAVY impacts. And all have been thrashed within an inch of their lives. Bottom line, youll have allot of fun. Enjoy!!!

I noticed you have found the cars for sale at www.ferrarichallenge.dk, but if you have any intrest still in a 355 there is one for sale in Finland, it has been driving for teamf40, same team that won last years scandinavian challenge with their 360.

It seems to be rather expensive at 79.900€ but iis surely negotiable. It is a 1998 with 13000km and seems to have nice setup of extras, also called evo1 (whatever that means?) It has challenge exhaust, Koni adjustables, carbonFibre wing, OMP seats, Fire exthinguise system.

Here are some sites about the car:

Nicke, thank you very much for your info. As you said, 79000 euros is too expensive for a 355 Challenge. If you see www.ferrarichallenge.dk you can see 355 Challenge at 53000 or 57000 euros. I think I can get a better price from that finland 355 but... 30.000 euros less??? I do not know...

Thanks for your opinion Challenge64 and john hersam.

Now, I am into a big dude!! 360 is all electronic, and 355 no.
355 is easier to repair and maintenance than 360, I think.

The cheaper 360 in europe I found is 70.000 euros, and the cheaper 355 in europe 50.000 euros. It is not a big difference. But probably final this year when Ferrari Challenge finish, it will be more 360 for sale... and cheaper, so I think it is better idea to buy a 360. When I want to sell, it will be easier than 355, I think.

Ok, when I buy it, I will post pictures and if you are in Spain, or near, I will invite you to come with me to a track day!

    Thanks,

    Enrique.
