    Hi People,

I've been looking for a 348 for a while now, and decided a spider or GTS is the right choice.

The problem is, is that I can't find the right one. I've done the autotrader and F.O.C websites to death. I think I've covered most of the independants too!!

Does anyone know of a good one that can be recommended (needs to be a dealer as I have a p/ex to take care of too!)

    Thanks

    Mark

Sorry to pee off all 348 owners and probably you, but why a 348? If it's the grill down the side look, get a testarossa or one of it's derivatives, Otherwise get a 328 or a 355 and spare yourself the grief of people like me! The 348 is, rightly or wrongly, not the most loved Ferrari, even by those who have a large red blind spot. You'll also probably have a better investment with a 512 or with a 328 for a little bit more money (but I'm biased). For performance if you can stretch the budget to a 355 you'll get much more bang for your buck.

INVESTMENT ????????? in the first place, go with your heart, and buy the one you like, and not the one that would be the 'better' investment. and I think the looks of a 328 is nice but old !! a 348 is a lot modern looking, and they are not so bad as some always , always say, mostly by the one's who has never own one,
I own one for 12 years, and I'm very pleased with it, I love it,

    Thanks guys.

It's definately a heart decision rather than an investment (and also regardless of the worries about reliability - every car has problems at some time).

I wanted a 355, but common sense said for £20k less, I can have a car that, IMO does not look quite as good, but how much am I saving !!!

Just got to find a good one...

    Cheers,

    Mark

Ray - there`s a molecule of dust on your nearside rear wheel arch. Is the upkeep getting too much for you? ;-)

Mark... go for it mate! My advice would be to register your interest with a few of the independents. Specifically, try phoning Mike Wheeler at Rardley Motors as he has a good network of contacts and sourced a cracking car for me when I was in your position.

    Good luck!

What a load of utter rubbish you spout, so your one of the ones to blame for the undeserved 348 bashing. Like many others you clearly introduce your bias filters when reading about the many issues relating to 355's

Mark - get to Nick Cartwrights (Derbyshire)

He's got a pristine GTS 7,900 miles and a nice blue TS. Probably more expensive than most, but quality (bought mine there). Ignore f328nvl, talking utter junk. Admiration for the others on this thread who don't currently own 348's but offer sound advice.

    Definately a 348 for me.

    I've had a 308, so a 328 looks too similar and I don't want LHD on a 355.

    Only one obvious choice !!!

What a load of rubbish. If the guy wants a 348 go for it, if the guy wants a 328 so what. Its all subjective. What he wants is good advice by people who know. You obviously don't except from what you heard 'up the pub'.

I own a 348 and adore it, and im sure there are people on here who have tipos that I don't particularly like, but good luck to them, if thats the one they wanted, let them enjoy it, its a Ferrari and all Ferrari's are there to be enjoyed whatever their 'history'

You ought to read the V12 in the back stuff, that's got so tedious that even Tony's become intolerant of it!

The whole point is to have a view, mine is that a 348 is, for whatever reason, widely seen by people who know a bit about Ferraris as the unloved car in the "3 series" (I happen not to like 360s much either, but the market seems to disagree with me at the moment). My observation is that 328s are really solidly holding their value, but aren't especially quick by modern standards, whereas 355s are genuinely quick cars that also seem to be firming up pricewise at the moment.

Everyone gets precious when the other person doesn't agree with them and I did preface my comment with the observation that some people would be pissed off and disagree. C'est la vie. I'm sure the guy will buy whatever takes his fancy and enjoy it.

My guess is that the guy's smart enough to make his own mind up. Presumably you think that everyone should uncritically blow sunshine up any red car's exhaust and call it "advice"? I'm not a world expert on all the cars, but I do own one (amongst others) and have driven a version of pretty much every model from about 1985 to date (except, off the top of my head, the F40, F50 and Enzo), and many of the earlier ones. I even drive mine to the pub occasionally!

Well, you should know better then. All Ferraris have their issues. If the guy wants a 348 give him advice not your own blinkered and biased view. I base my opinions on a passion for the marque without being critical, and thats all it is my opinion, what gives me the prick ache is people who have their opinions and try and force it on others. You'll be knocking on peoples doors next trying to sell them a copy of 'The Watch tower'!!

Whilst obviously I sympathise with your genital problems, the guy asked for opinions, presumably expecting to receive a spectrum of views. As an owner, someone who's actually driven the cars and who tracks the market for them closely (you may or may not know that a very good condition 348 with a complete service history was auctioned for £21k at Coys in May last year, hence the comment on investment values. In comparison a lhd very low mileage 328 went for £26k at Brooks in March, the cheapest I'm aware of recently) I'd have thought I've as much right as you to have my five penneth worth.

I'm not sure that "I love Ferraris and pick chat-room fights with anyone who says otherwise" qualifies as particularly useful advice, but I may be wrong.

Read the whole thread. If you had actually owned one, maybe I would have respected your opinion more and no i didn't know about the one sold in the auction, now that IS good advice, maybe you should let Mark know

    Mark,

    Sorry, got side tracked.

Try Kent High Performance. Last time i looked they had 5 348's in. They have a very good reputation and are very helpful.

Be serious ... you can't beat the guy up for giving (not forcing) an opinion and then drag the conversation down to that level. It's the kind of thing I'd expect to read in the MaxPower forums. Show some class...

If our man has his heart set on a 348 the best of luck to him, I hope he finds one and enjoys it. However, I agree with F328NVL. Having driven a 348 and a 355 on more than one occasion, I would suggest that in terms of performance and total cost of ownership (capital cost, servicing, residual value etc) the 355 is a far better car for not entirely different money.

Now that doesn't account for personal taste... like I said, if somebody loves a 348 but can't look twice at a 355, then none of that means anything. But, there's nothing wrong with somebody pointing out they think the 355 is a better choice... if that were a crime there'd be nothing to read on this board.
Since when do you have to own a particular car to have an opinion?

No, what I said was I would respect his opinion more. Please get it right.

Again read the whole thread, I don't think I stand alone.

I actually agree with you about the 355, it is a better car, but the guy wants a 348

like the jerry springer show this thread, the 348 is a nice car, so is the 355 and all the variants, f328nvl says he dont like the 360, i aint bothered, but the guy owns a 328 so he's bound to be biased too. drive em all and make a decision all are great motors

but remember, before you do the crime , think about the time chamone, ouuuuww
