    Hello guys,

I think about buying a 355 Berlinetta within the next 5-6 months.

My questions to you Ferraristis are...

    - How old should it be maximum?
    - Are the models around '93 also that reliable like the newer ones?
    - How is the reliability in general?
    - and........ :) can you guys recommend me to buy a 355?

    Thanks for your efforts!

    Regards,
    Florian

I would suggest using the search function...just type in "355" and specify headings only...you will be reading for days, TONS of useful info there..

The short answers to your questions are...

    1) The production of 355's ran from 95-99, generally speaking, the newer the better..try typing in "valve guides" in your search to see what I mean.
Also, the 1995's were a tiny bit faster (maybe 5-10 hp or so) due to a slightly less restrictive exhaust set up...

    2) no 93 models....see above

3)All Fcars can have problems, and these cars are getting to be 6-10 years old now, but most people feel they are a good choice for a starter Ferrari..taking age and alternatives into relative account.

    4) Yes, it was my first Fcar, and I will always have one now...nothing else compares

Hope this helps, enjoy your reading material!

I've had nothing but praise for this car. I've had it for just over 3 weeks now and put about 1K miles on it already. It's just too much fun to drive.

However, keep in mind the maintenance costs - whichever 355 you look at, make sure the maintenance records are there, and plan to set aside a good chunk of change if the 30K service has not been done. I was lucky to pick mine up right after the previous owner dropped $8500 for his 30K service.
