    Hi Gents,

I'm having a tough time trying to find a well sorted giallo. There are a couple ok ones at places like "the car factory" or "lucky auto", etc. What do u guys think about buying at these small-type lots? bad idea? Thanks,

    C

It's usually fin but you should sent a trusted mechanic to throughly check the car first. And make sure the dealer is trusted too.

Thanks guys. I assume the F-cars that are on these lots are "undesirablesr" since they ended up in the worst places for cars. I could be wrong, but why would a really nice ferrari be on a typical used car lot?

most of them are bought from auction... that's why they are cheaper.. but if you are just trying to drive them and enjoy something that isn't super perfect, then just PPI and it passes then you should be fine.

Just keep that in mind of why they are cheaper.. and why others from private party and real dealers especially official ones cost more.

I live in Sherman Oaks, I have driven by that Fcar at The Car Factory a few times. Have not actually stopped to look at it. I did however check out a Giallo they had a few years ago that was pretty rough on the inside had about 44K on it and they were very aggressive on lowering the price to make a sale. Not sure if your in CA or not.

I'd gladly go take a peak at it for you. But PPI for sure.

    Good luck in your search.

having a rough example exotic makes little sense. the repair and restoration will end up costing you more money and time than a good private party sale.

I've never had good experience with them. They don't have the best cars typically.

There are lots of good ones out there...you really can't find one, or you can't find one at a price you want to pay? The good ones aren't the cheapest of course and they don't sit on the market forever (unless way over priced). Post here with what you are looking for...

Thanks guys very much! :) I had a feeling they were worn examples..I feel sorry for them.

Hi AI- I'm looking for a '99-'01 giallo 360 coupe, lower miles/owners, pristine-ish, mostly stock. F1 or 3 pedal is ok. thanks again!

My first 360 I bought on a complete whim from a "corner lot", the thought of buying a Ferrari had never even crossed my mind until that day. I drove by it on my way golfing, later that night had probably one or two too many drinks with my buddies who convinced me to buy it. Went back and bought it. 99% of the time a corner lot bought it at an auction. The car was a complete POS. Fortunately/unfortunately I totaled the car three weeks after I bought it before I was going to have to sink significant amounts of money into it. The one I have now I bought from a Dealer. I would never go any other way. Not only was my current car in 1000x better condition. It had never went to auction (meaning it probably wasn't driven by someone that does not give a rat's ass about the car). If I knew my car was going to auction or was about to be repossessed I would melt the tires off of it... Not to mention I highly doubt a dealer is going to take a car in rough shape in on trade. I bought my current car sight unseen and have not had any problems. Just my two cents.

drive car, inspect it, look for records. the situation will get you a nice discount! I wouldn't shy away. There's a reason car's from dealers cost more, you're paying for the presentation.

Agree with rmani above. If it meets your criteria then have it inspected. Then, buy it or pass. To automatically blow off cars at smaller lots is ludicrous. Like blowing off a hotty just because she's in starbucks and not at a club.

I bought mine from a VERY questionable corner lot in Miami. Rosso/nero gated with sport seats. Wasn't perfect by any stretch, needed a few things per inspection.. but she was perfect for me. Had I bought from a stealership I probably would have paid $20k more than I did.

Hi, Chris, we met a few weeks ago at the very rainy Super Car Sunday (I was the quiet one believe it or not). I work in Sherman Oaks on Ventura - can you tell me where The Car Factory is located? If it's close enough to work, maybe I can sneak out for an hour and check out their inventory.

    Carbon,

It's on the corner of Burbank and Van Nuys. It's parked right out front, on the South West corner.

Now, I also want to go look at it. :)
