About to sign a contract to buy one. What should I look out for? Even though I have a year guarantee is there anything I should pay attention to before buying one? Thank you for your help. Edmond
Here are some items: Clutch wear - get a reading on clutch wear from a sd3 or equivalent.. Inspect the ccb brakes for cracks flaking Check in wheel wells for any rub marks Carbon fiber fading in engine bay especially coolant covers and covers above exhaust Make sure the recalls for undercoating on hood and doors was done if 2008 Also there was a recall on heat shields in engine bay Check movemrnt of suspension..Checking bushings and ball joints Check headlights for spider webbing Make sure there no blue white smoke on start up Check maintenance records Get 2 keys with code card for alarm and for radio Manuals Vip book Window sticker Tool kit Car cover with steering wheel and seat covers Battery tender Overall color matching ..Look around windows and edges for repainted signs Under front bumper to see how bad is the damage from driveways etc And check all switches lights controls (ac heat) , no stored codes in computer That is off the top of my head Sent from my Moto G (4) using Tapatalk
I would add: - Check for sticky interior plastics, e.g. window switches and transmission controls (R button, etc.) - Besides checking for no codes (set with CEL or pending), check that emission monitors are set.
Also, Open the doors and check all the painted black surfaces where the hinges are. Look for any cracks on the black paint, chips or flakes.
That was the recall I was referring to above ..Great minds think alike Sent from my Moto G (4) using Tapatalk
Thank you so much for all the help I got from you guys! Appreciate it very much. Have a good weekend my friend - Edmond
One more thing. The car reads 72% clutch wear still good and only 52% brakes still good. Is that acceptable - or should I ask for a new sets of brakes (or break calipers)? Also how can I make sure the tires are still good? What profile is acceptable do you think? Thank you Edmond
It probably has the original tyres in which case whatever the wear they are too old if you intend to drive the car but then again maybe that is not the plan
That is a lot of brake wear for CCBs if only used on the street, good chance it was tracked, just FYI. regarding the black paint in the jams all 430s including scuds have this but I don't know of a recall.
http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/360-430-sponsored-yellow-compass-group/485228-questions-ask-when-buying-430-scuderia.html This thread was very helpful when I was buying mine.
last time I checked (which was 4+ years ago) a new set of rotors was over $30k USD...so, yeah...that's worth understanding. Also, they sometimes need to be replaced based on physical wear/inspection and not strictly/solely by the %. With that "high" wear %, I'd have someone inspect them. That stuck out to me too...I've not seen a CCM car show anywhere near 50%...(not a huge sample, but I've looked at dozens of cars over the years and never seen one above 20%.)
As a guide mine is just approaching 30,000 kms and brake wear is less than 20% per the last check. Clutch is similar. The car is so light it doesn't feel to me like either brakes or clutch are particularly stressed unless being really abused. Nothing wrong with being tracked but if so I wouldn't be too distracted by low mileage. Faded carbon in the engine bay another good indicator.
Thank you all for your valuable help. I decided to pull the trigger and buy my second Scuderia within 5 years. I miss that car and it was so addictive - I want that addiction back...
