Well...you have to make compromises and you can't have everything. I won't complain too much as these are pretty good problems to have overall.

Ironically, it was the aviation forum here that got me interested in flying. I'm hooked now. Will be buying a plane and the 430 must go.

It's a beautiful and perfect 2007 spider (red/tan) with 3600 miles and everything you could ever want to see in a pre-owned Ferrari

    Here's the ad:

    For the aviators..it's between a Diamond DA40 and a Cirrus SR20 (or possibly 22)

Good luck with the sale and the future acquisition. Keep us posted as you go through your flying journey, especially if you end up buying one of the two planes you mentioned.

    Will do!

Flew the SR20 last week...oh my...what a blast. I LOVE that plane. Coming from Cessna 172's , it was pretty incredible. Only disappointments (this was a G3 model) were the trim (way too sensitive and no manual)and the avionics (Avidyne with Garmin 430's)...I'm used to flying g1000.

I'm flying the Diamond tomorrow, so we'll see, but...the DA40 will have a tough act to follow.

perhaps not surprisingly, that phone # is not a real one.

Sort of an odd message...Don't think I'd just load the car up on a truck! :)

Let's see, your profile says Sam Dulaney, in your post you say your name is Brian Knappmiller, you claim to be in Chicago but are posting from Wisconsin and you want to send a truck to pick up a Ferrari and deliver it to a supposed dealer where there is none. I don't think so! Banned.......

    Wow. Brazen. ;-)

but if we're going to play that game..

Please send your Ferrari, along with a chilled bottle of champagne wrapped in a hermes scarf in the passenger footwell, with my associate named.. lets call him.. Tony. "Tony" will arrive in a beaten up tow truck with "Hoarseless Karrage" written legitimately in crayon on the passenger door. Please sign the Korean Best Buy warranty sheet (we use it as our confirmation of pickup) before you hand him the keys.. and please don't forget to include both key FOBS. If there is any problem I can be reached at my Nigerian Villa... Don't worry...the funds should arrive next week. *chuckle* ;-)

Still laughing. The crayon writing on the door part really had me going.

Go with the SR22 if possible, and bump up to the new wing which started in 2003 I think. You will be disappointed with the SR20's useful load. The diamond I am not familiar with but stay away from the diesel if it is available.

You'll want to sell either of those planes in a month.

Too slow. Too little bang for the buck.

I had a member from here contacted me twice with trying to scam me with my F430, he takes the identity of wealthy CEO's. He has signed up using different profiles and posts just enough to seem credible. He is fishing for someone to make a dumb move so guys don't trust anyone, not like you would, but just a heads up.

The SR20 is a fine aircraft. I've flown one for some time. Of course the newer versions are nicer. The system integrations are well done and for most of the trips, that plane is more than enough. I also fly/own a Velocity XLRG IO550, all glass, cockpit trimmed in white leather. That's a fast plane and very cool looking! Sitting it it reminds me of the Ferrari. I flew it across the US from coast to coast. What a great experience!

I went the opposite direction that you are. I got the plane first and then the Ferrari (though I still have the plane). All the toys compete for my time now, (I also love motorcycles and the Harley has to get its share of attention).

Good thing my girlfriend likes all this stuff!

Yup..Im really leaning more towards the SR20. I think it's just the right plane for me..for about 2-3 years. Good balance of safety, speed, avionics, payload, IFR platform, stable in rough air, etc. Challenging enough for a new pilot, yet not overwhelming like the SR22.

After 2-3 years, we can see what the mission has really become...and if we need 6 seats, or just faster...or maybe pressurized/turbo to climb above weather...etc.

I did the same thing. Bought the planes first (2001 Saratoga II TC and 1966 Cherokee Six) and then the Lambo and the Ferrari later.....

Flying is such an awesome experience. If I HAD to choose between the planes or the sports cars, I'd choose the planes.
