First time buyer. Looking at buying an F430. What to look for? The good and the bad? Mileage? Price? Color? Resale? Buy or lease? Appreciate the help from the experts.

There's a lot of threads about this already so I would suggest searching. However, your question isn't specific enough. That depends a large amount on what you are looking for.

    F1 or 6 speed manual?

    Coupe or spider?

Low Price or lots of options?

Specific colors or you don't care?

Warranty still intact or you don't care?

    Garage queen or driven?

All of these have pluses and minuses. So, that's why I say you have to make some decisions at first on what your looking for before your questions can really be answered.

Just for a start, most between 2005 and 2007 are the same except for a few options. In 2008 carbon ceramic brakes were added standard (they were an option before but few selected them).

The most common color is Rosso Corsa Red. I would say black may be second with yellow third. But, they came in all sorts of wonderful colors including silver, white, and blue.

The most common/popular options were Power Daytona Seats, sheilds, color stitching of the leather, and F1 gearbox (probably 90% of all sold). Most came with Carbon Fibre interior parts but some have aluminum. But, there are many other options including the entertainment, interior trim, challenge rear grill, and wheel options.

The best place to start is to pick a budget. That will make a huge difference on what to look for. Late model cars with warranty and carbon ceramic brakes are much different than early cars without (carbon brakes added about $20 grand to the price). Mileage, color combinations, having good records, and general condition will make a difference as will the year.

All I can say for the F430 is that it's a magnificent car and I haven't found an owner yet that didn't feel that way. Most are reliable, comfortable, easy to drive --- and they are very fast. And, on top of that, they are easy on the pocketbook when it comes to maintenance (repairing though is another thing....)

One thing I would do... make an appointment and walk into a Ferrari dealer. It can't hurt and it's a good place to start. You can always walk out.

Lastly, always get the car checked out independantly by someone who knows them. If could save you thousands for just a few hundred dollars of expenditure.

^ Thanks very much for your reply.

I've already driven two different F430s and loved them both.

In terms of transmission, color, mileage, options, and budget:
    - F1 Paddle Transmission
    - Black, Blue Pozzi, or Grigio Silverstone
    - No mileage higher than 6k
    - Would prefer the Challenge Grill and CCBs
    - Budget is around 120-130k

I'm flexible about everything else, unless the interior is hideous haha

Then I think you've answered your own question. There are tons of testimonials about the F430 being a great car on this forum.

Find one you like and get it checked out.

I assume for that price you're looking for a coupe. That seems rather low for a spider with CCB's. There are few F430's before 2008 that have them.

I've always said don't let a good car go for a few grand. This is not a game to find the cheapest Ferrari. It's a game to find the right Ferrari for you. It's one of the biggest purchases you're going to make in your life. You might as well get what you want.

Also, I wouldn't let the 6K mileage limit stop me from looking at a higher mileage car. It's not difficult to find a car with that or less but it's really just an arbitrary number that relates to very little. If the car checks out OK, that's the most important thing.

I learned everything about Ferraris right here. I literally knew nothing. I had always read/heard how unreliable they were and how an oil change costs $2500,etc. I met a 360 owner at a car show a few years ago who told me about this site.

I lurked and educated myself. Plenty of info in the past threads. Personally I would not lease a car of any kind.

    Good luck.

As $$$=SPEED stated your budget is in the 05-06 range, but finding one with the Challeneg Grille and CCB's may be difficult. I have an 08 that meets all your requirements except budget.
