Well one thing I have learned here is my shipping manifest for the Pista was just a number. Also, one that I don’t know is a reality. So perhaps the data I have is not correct. There is also bias at times from media as well as error in measurement. For example, is the fat Tesla Model S weight 4600 lbs or 4900? Type “weight Tesla model S” into Google. That’s the first search result. 4600-4900? Actually, do all of you even see the same search results for that weight? I don’t know. Even more so, who reported the “0-60mph” of either 2.24 or 2.4? It was Motortrend with 2.24. Tesla with 2.4 originally. But, Tesla never spoke up and corrected the number even though it was not a direct comparison (and not true). After that, the number of 2.24 was quoted all over the Internet. Why? Well because media wanted people to buy their media. How many times have you had a friend who quote different performance numbers? On another thread, I wrote that my experience with the SF90 was that it felt heavier than the Pista and lighter than the 812. To me from the seat of my pants, it feels about 2/3rds of the way between the two. Also, the seat of my pants is not an accurate scale. Maybe because it doesn’t like scales any longer. It was qualitative. I think I will stick to avoiding data so I don’t get caught up in the issues or errors. So I hereby excuse myself from the “quantitative” discussion group.
Oh my goodness! the list is like a mile long!! haha - they will pretty much carbon fiber anything besides the chassis and body...let me see if I can find the official list, it's mind boggling!!!
I wouldn't say you're wrong either!! Every car can differ depending on options and condition, fluid levels, heck - even scale calibration. It's all silly anyways; we're talking about a variable we all admit is just that - variable. These cars are products of passion, I get it - it would be relatively easy for any Pista owner to get to the advertised weight aftermarket with some time and money if it *really* bugs you. The fact is the Pista is a damn fine machine regardless if a skinny guy takes it out or an overweight guy and his portly passenger. They'll all have a crazy experience, and 3,050 pounds vs 3,300 pounds will be the last thing on their collective minds.
You are exactly right! The only thing I've definitively proved is the particular Pista I weighed was 3200 lbs. If weighed @LVP488 Pista, I guarantee you it will be different, could be heavier or lighter, same with @gzachary Besides, the extra 150 pounds would only matter if your doing competition, which I said, then move up to 488 Modificata. Those guys are laughing at me right now.
I'm so excited to finally be able to take out the SF90 this weekend!! I'll bring an extra pair of underwear.
Well there are the Ferrari Challenge races at the Sonoma raceway both days in case you want to drive there. I hope I get the chance to meet you and see your car in person sometime. Let’s do a combined SF90 drive! I live kind of around the corner from you!
My apologies, my iPhone seems to want to take control.... I was horrified when I saw this post as I didn’t want to write anything !
Hi Paul, Well I have been out this season to date for various reasons. But I will be there on Sunday with my team Scuderia Corsa. The plan is for a full season for 2021-2022. Which means getting on the track for a whole bunch of testing in the winter as prep. Also, will be there with FSV as well. Look forward to meeting you. G
Forza Scuderia Corsa! Getting my Covid-19 test tomorrow (even though already vaccinated.) I heard they are very strict this year. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Got to hang out with the Scuderia Corsa drivers a few years ago. Fun times. My daughters were happy to see a lady champion. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Aside from the wheels, I have not seen many Pistas without most or every CF option. Of course we are discussing the lightest spec possible. This is no different than if we look at McLaren. A 765 also weighs more if not specced as light as possible. Sent from my SM-G930F using FerrariChat.com mobile app
The diffuser is actually one option that saves a lot. The standard diffuser is a seriously big chunk of dense plastic. The air inlet box etc. is also a pretty big piece. I don't remember the exact number, but when 458Trofeo put his 458 on a diet, I think he shaved like 15 kg. on the diffuser. I lifted the diffuser of a 488 Spider and CF diffuser of a Pista Spider, and the difference was significant. Sent from my SM-G930F using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Well I took out the 812 GTS today after a,wash. I swear, it was so light after the dust and pollen came off that it only needed three wheels. I must have saved at least 50 grams by washing it.:-D Sent from my SM-G930F using FerrariChat.com mobile app
