With the Canadian dollar now at par or higher how are importers pricing cars? The used 360's listed on Auto Trader are now over priced compared to the asking price in the USA. Will there be an adjustment in selling prices in Canada? In order to bring a US 360 up to Canadian specs,do you really have to have the work done by an authorized Ferrari retailer? Canada Customs states, "Please contact an authorized Ferrari Canadian dealership to determine the exact nature and costs of modifications. All modifications must be performed by an authorized Ferrari dealership." What modifications are required to be done to a 360?

canadian prices will not adjust if dealers have had the cars in stock before the dollar was at par, they'll wait or take a loss or jam someone into one.
The only thing you need from at all from Ferrari is a recall clearance letter which you can get from Ferrari North America($2000) and daytime running lights which if you buy a car at a ferrari dealer down there i get them thrown in when i buy the car.

It is obviously an unfortunate turn of events for the dealers who have cars in stock. I am sure the dollar argument will be used against them by most (all) used Ferrari buyers as now it cannot be ignored. Why so much for the recall clearance letter ($2000)?

I guess they gotta make some money somewhere besides service and thats IF someone decides to bring it to a dealer for service which its always nice to have Ferrari paperwork with a car. Recall clearance letters used to be free until 8 months ago i think. BMW,Porsche,Ferrari,Mercedes all charge for them now with the others costing $500, but don't bother with a benz it's not worth it.

Alot of the cars in stock are u.s cars and if not dealers will just argue the point on trade in's about being able to buy one cheaper.

It is a vicious circle. As you pointed out the same argument can be applied to any trade in to lower it's value too. It seems that if you have a trade in it will be somewhat of a false savings as you will take an equal hit on the trade. My experience with most dealers is they will justify the higher price of the car they are selling and only apply the deminished value due to the exchange rate to the car you are trading in. Obviously cars that are currently deemed inadmissible by Canada Customs are imune to the whole currency issue as you can't bring them in anyway.

only DRLs and a recall clearance is needed to bring a ferrari back to canada or is that just the basics. how much would it cost to get DRLs put in at the dealer.

Yes sorry Ferrari charges something like $7000 for the letter BUT apparentley when you contact F.N.A for the letter they say they are no longer giving them because the R.I.V accepts carfax's which is absolutely NOT TRUE!!!!

D.R.L'S are in the $300 range, when really it should cost $20 because all they do in MOST cases is plug in the computer and turn them on, some hardwire it with a wiring harness which by the way ferrari italy will not supply to u.s dealers anymore. So you'll have to find a mechanic to rig up the lights.

And yes it's $2000 for the lambo letter, sorry for the confusion.

this post was not about a letter. Please do not get side tracked! My question is about the install of the DRL jumper provided by our Ferrari dealer. Does one of you know where it is installed? Thank you, Jerry

$7,000 for a recall clearance letter is totally outrageous. Is there any way of getting around this recall letter? James I read somewhere that you might be able to do this?

    Jerry......

Pretty much any mechanic could do that in 30 minutes or less, without the Ferrari provided part. Just wire up a relay from the lights to the fuel pump, for example. Why haven't you paid for someone to do it already ?
