"We've no idea how the Acabion fares in terms of high-speed stability, or whether it can negotiate corners without falling over, particularly in view of the fact that the supplementary rear 'stabilisers' (which look rather like the trainer wheels on my first bike) retract once "walking pace" is exceeded."

    Hmm, I think I'll pass.

obviously the thing leans like a motor bike when those training wheels lift. i like it. shouldn't be too expensive either.

Maglev train - Shanghai to Pudong airport.
It does the 38Km in 7 minutes.
Takes about 3 minutes to get to 431, is there for 1 minute, and about 3 minutes to come back to zero.
The best bit is when it runs parallel to the freeway and you are passing cars doing 120 with a speed differential of over 300 :)
The next best bit is when it's sister comes the other way doing the same speed - passing each other takes about a nanosecond and is like a small nuclear explosion!

    Great fun :D

When I was in Europe a couple of years ago we caught the train from London to Paris and I remember watching a plane out the window and it took me a couple of seconds to work out why it looked so slow coming into land. Then I remembered we were already doing something like 180mph. I was waiting for the plane to just drop out of the sky.
