Folks, please help me put a price on this 2002 Tii which a friend wants to sell, and I want to buy. Problem is, the car has been on storage for several years. The paint is mostly gone, and there is a fair amount of surface rust. The "ii" bits are gone, and it sports a Weber carb. The cooling system is dismantled, and there is a radiator, water pump and assorted bits in the trunk. I've seen it sit there under a tarp for years and years, and I -dunno- kind of want to rescue it.

Other than that, the car seems quite complete, except for a rip in the rear seat upholstery. No, I didn't think of taking pictures... probably will do that on Saturday and post back.

But meanwhile, how much would you offer for a 2002 as described?

Depends on the year, roundie or square tail?

Square tail. The seller's mother (who is the one showing me the car) does not remember the year. Any way to tell it just from looking? I'd guess it is a 74.

Today I have an M3 but I had a 2002ii and I loved the car. Some guys at an exotic car geoup I go to had one. One guy was asking $9500. That car was perfect with a good to fare appearance.

I think you will be luck to get a few $1000 for your car mosley for parts. But to be honest I would check the BMW forum those guys would know better than I.

    Good luck :)

It has to be a 74 tii if it has square tail lights. Check for more rust, because they're good at it. Lovely cars to drive, bonus points for a sunroof.

Rear shock towers, front turn signal area, spare wheel well will tell the tale on that.

    Hey look! It's Uro's daughter in a 1970 Nevada!

This one is not really a tii anymore. Weber carbs instead of the (very expensive) Kugelfisher injection system. Plus a basket of parts. Hasn't been run in years. This is a pig in a poke. In good shape, they are north of $10k.

Unless you are very handy, better off getting a tii that has had most of the work already done.

    Regards,
    Jerry

Thanks a lot for all the info, boys! Sorry I didn't chime in sooner, I was called on an emergency yesterday.

2002s are a rare bird here in Venezuela, so if I really want one (still not sure) I'll have to think seriously about this doggy one. Might be a 5 year wait before another one comes up for sale.

So I guess I'll take a lot of pics tomorrow, look for rust at the prescribed spots, and report back!
