I had a blast driving my 911 at the VIR with all the Ferraris this last spring. And I had fun riding (and power sliding) with Jack Russell Racing two weekends ago on the poker run. But there was something lacking in the experiences. So, I am pleased to announce that as of 5:30pm today, Steve Barney at Sport Auto turned my 911 into a 1987 Ferrari 328. I haven’t taken any pix myself yet, but Steve Jones at Sport Auto has done a better job than I could anyway (he gets credit for the attached photos). You can find the rest of the pix here: http://www.sportauto.cc/inventory_ferrari/july05fer87red/index.htm.

If I don't see you this Sunday on the trip of to VIR then I hope to see all of you soon.

I was up at VIR but only remember the yellow Ruf 911, do you have any pics of yours just so I can remember? Or was it the silver cabriolet?

Edit: Sorry, I almost forgot, the 328 looks amazing. I wish I could come on Sunday but I'm already taking a few days off for a wedding. I look forward to hearing about your new life with your new companion:)

It was a red 996 with blue tape all over the front. It ran most of Saturday and only briefly Sunday as I sprang an oil leak. I didn't get any pix of it at the event and I can't seem to find any others right now. If I do, I'll post it.

Looks like it's in superb condition, congrats.

Just call Dan and get a nice billet sphere shift knob instead of that odd Diablo-looking one.

I haven't driven the 328 enough yet to make a very accurate comparison, but here are my thoughts so far...They're both beautiful cars. Either one is just as visually pleasing to me. The sound of the 911 at 4000+ rpm's is beautiful -- the 328 sounds beautiful just idling and is simply amazing at high rpm's. The 911 handles VERY well; the balance is different in the 328 and so far I don't feel like I can take tight curves as fast as I could with the 911. The 911 is newer, faster, more powerful. The 328 is older and may be a little slower and slightly less powerful (I believe only 13hp less), but it sure doesn't feel that way when you're behind the wheel cruising along with the top off and the engine roaring right behind you.

The 911 is a great car. The 328 is a Ferrari. Need I say more?

Great work, the more you drive it, the less you'll miss the 911! Welcome to a great community!

    Great choice!
I did it the other way around and I regret that every day.

    Enjoy this beautiful 328!

Yeah, Ricambi America was more than glad to help me out with the new knob. Floor mats are on the way, and then I may have to get some pedals, a fuel cap, and whatever else my wife will let me get away with :)

I'll see if I can find a couple.

To the rest: thanks for the warm welcome. The community was a big part of the reason I moved into the Ferrari world to begin with. No regrets here!
