    Commies.

The only 2 teams that should be in the World Series, each and every year, are the Cards and the Yankees.

The rest of the season can just be entertainment, like the WWF or, WWE, or WCW, or...

Torre was a good manager, not great. Like so much in life, timing is everything-and Joe with Jeter, Rivera, Posada, Petitte, Bernie Williams, etc. caught lightning in a bottle; getting AROD and Clemens by having an owner spending $$$ like its air also helped.....don't forget Clemens made more than the entire Devil Rays....the scouts who signed Jeter, etc. are the true unsung geniuses....

i don't think he'll be going to the yankees. if anything, it'd be interesting to see a swap, larussa to the yankees, torre to the cardinals. although i highly doubt it'll happen.

I don't know that the Yankees would want La Russa. I'd love to see a swap too, but like you said it probably 'aint gonna happen.

Now, now, don't get even greedier than me -

That very Series set the stage for this Lil' Slugger - I was four... and enthralled, so, then as now, the Cards & Yanks are my teams. Many, many years later, I picked up a mint set of the '64 Series Topps cards - it was the last buy I made.

Chances are he stays. From what I've heard, the Yankees are planning on making him an offer, but with his agent (Boras), you never know.

It's too bad that Torre appears to be on the way out, he was a terrific player's manager. But, as an old coach once told me: in pro sports, coaches lose their impact on the team after about 5 years. Torre had more than his 5 -- all the more remarkable given where he was managing!

You really think so??? I heard that too. How could the Yanks put a rookie coach in there with all that talent?

Serious clashing of egos in NY with all this... I think that Steinbrenner put his foot in his mouth when he made that comment about winning the series, who would he replace him with that's better?

PS: What the latest on A-Rod, is he going to get $30M/year from the Cubs?

EXACTLY. You don't fire someone until you have his replacement lined up and ready to go.

And if Torre does get fired, then he'll get another coaching job within a couple weeks, easily.
