MY C.S. with 9200 miles is beautiful except for the rusting/discoloration of the exposed stock exhaust tips. Anyone else with the same problem? Anyone had the exhaust tips replaced, what company, [I heard from Fab speed who will remove the tips, chrome them and reweld in place]. Car has to go to them just outside of Phila. Penn. Has anyone just replaced the tips without the muffler?
I used wire wool to get most of the rust/discolouration off, then used a good metal polish. My tips are like new .
I apply 'Oven Off' -- wipe it on, don't spray it on -- and let it sit for a few hours. It restores the tips to looking as new.
Use some fine steel wool and some degreaser (Tarminator or Simple Green or Meguiars APC) and scrub the tips. It will put some light scratches on the metal, but it should clean off all the rust and carbon deposits. Then just hit them with some metal polish and you should be good to go.
