Assuming I will sell my car before the spring I really am looking to hop into something new. Right now im torn between a 02-03 M3, 01-02 C5, or a 04 S4. I really dont need an everyday type car, I want a fast performing sports car. All 3 are comparibly similiar in performance but the C5 may have the edge. The C5 is what I have been set on for a few months, but im worried about durability and the safety of the car. The M3 is prob my second choice, its fast, reliable, and safe. The S4 also looked appealing, the V8 on that car is a beast, and the fact of it being a sedan and me being used to them draws me to it. Now im pretty sure everyone is gonna say M3, but maybe you all have some input to make me think clearier about it. TIA

Corvette for the Weekend sport car look and feel

M3 for a daily drive type vehicle with a great edge

NO on the S4. Not a fan of the body style at all.

I would not buy a 01 Vette, go with the 02-03......actually, 5yr old BMW vs 5 yr old Vette? I'd take the Bimmer, UNLESS!!! the Vette is in the wrapper and was owned by a very anal vette guy that was afraid to drive it and kept in the garage and only went to car shows with it.......check out corvetteforum, C5 vettes for sale section. if you need a link, I'll send it to you.

It's a very safe car, lots of onboard computers to keep the car straight, even in the rain, it's not the V8/RWD, spin out car that everyone thinks. I have 1000% confidence in driving a vette in the rain, I had an 02, 05 & now Im in an 08... rain & 80 mph is nothing to fear of in the vette

I love my m3 and I wouldn't trade it for any of the cars listed. To me it's a perfect combination of handling, power, perfect looks, and enough luxury. If you do go for the m3, make sure it has warranty. if you get a flawed one you'll be in a world of trouble.

If you want out of the box performance and don't plan on getting into performance mods... ///M3. If you do plan or don't mind performance mods... C5. You'll get more for your money in mods with the Vette vs the M3. Exhaust, intakes, headers and even cams don't do too much to the M3 like it does on a Vette. I have an e46 M3 and love it but it's expensive as hell to mod. If you decide on the C5, see if you can get the Z06 :)

I happen to Love my C5, although for the month that my mini was impounded I did get a little sick of driving it every single day. It's not much fun in traffic for hours on end, but then again, neither is any stick car. Although my vette only has 16k on the clock right now, I've never had any real problems with the car. The only thing that's ever gone wrong was actually a strange electrical problem that developed because I wasn't driving the car enough. At the time it was only being driven 2 or 3 times a year. Swapped the battery and the terminal connectors and no problems since. The gas mileage is great, I get 35 on the highway, which is better than the 32 I get in the mini, and the removable hard top is super key. I also did the GHL exhaust, Vararam intake, Z06 wheels, and lowered it on stock suspension. Long tube headers are being jet coated now and will be going in shortly. In a straight line it's noticeably faster than most M3's I encounter. I've found that most people expect squeaks and rattles and stuff like that because it's a chevy, but having driven both Vette and M3, I honestly think the chassis in the vette feels stiffer and squeaks and rattles are about equal, though the interior lacks the european refinement of the M3. The seats are very comfortable though. But sorry, you can't have mine ;)

Hi Jeff, knew I recognized that screename ha. My ex m3 I have no idea where it is, but will actually do a little hunt to see where it wound up :(

In my stock m3 vs my friends c5 when I first got it, I started pulling in the triple digits a good amount, the gearing is great and they pull hard up to some good speeds, I also had a very strong M but still, fantastic drivers cars, can't wait to get another !
