Im in FL mostly and NW Ct part of summer.
Fl is flat, amd straight, you can go 100 on highway but that's about it.
NW CT ios epic backroads, although the vette is a bit big for that, more lotus country.
For real speed I go tot he track, watkins glenn mostly.

having grown up in South Africa I do get that fast road driving is different to track, more 7-810ths conering, more about flow with some burst of accel. Had heard hill country was the 80-140 open winding road range.

They were not thinking n about compromising size, or style esp in rear for two sets of golf club mandate from a Gm black shoe who rides a limo, nor were they factoring crash protection structure.. The transverse v6 and later transverse v8 allows for space in rear.

The desire is to wander relatively far with this car, road trips to other tracks etc.

Always wanted to take the BBi to hill country so it can roam.

Pls Post some pics from Kentucky, there was a fcar drive there years ago that looked epic. Wife is always wanting a more mountainous retreat. Texas is going purple as is Nc, maybe Kentucky is it.

I'll take more pics on this next trip. I'll only have a few from my last project in western KY, and none that do it justice. There were some cool single lane roads with sharp turns amid the crops that were neat. Beautiful tree lined double lane country roads everywhere. The four seasons give a different backdrop every couple of months. Fall was gorgeous. I'd look in my rear view as the F430 kicked up all of the colorful leaves while driving amidst the fall foliage. I've only cruised through W.Ky once or twice, I plan to explore more this year; but I would live near Lexington, really impressed with that area, and more changes in elevation. Can't wait to do this again with the top down. To me, Kentucky is extremely underrated; and the place I was in last year was less than two hours from Nashville in case you want big city amenities.

There were several Z06 present. Their owners couldn’t say enough good things about them, along with they are faster than my incoming 296.

The guy that owns the blue Z06 drove the 296. He said the Vette was faster. Whatever. Image Unavailable, Please Login

I love SF, especially with the red/black interior. Not sure which car I’ll end up liking better (SF or RM), but one will get traded for Z06 someday (if I ever get allocation) and likely will do the Z06 spec same as the traded car.

Did you get stripes too? I think they look great with the SF.

Thinking of adding a sports car...and the new vette has been on my "eventually own one" list. May I ask a couple of basic/newby questions:

First, I live in the middle of the mountains, no dealer within 100 miles, so I can't check it out physically (quickly anyways), thus some basic questions:

    1) Can you tell me if 6'3" long legs will fit comfortably?

    2) I want an open-top sports car, but am having a hard time figuring out (again without physically touching the cars) if the regular targa top is just fine or is the convertible the way to go? (how much different are they in terms of "open top-ness"? And is the extra $ for the 'vert needed to get a proper open top drive)

    2) Are these available at or below msrp yet? (base model, not sure of trim level yet. And like all my auto purchases, I'm a nationwide shopper, so I'll buy it anywhere and go get it or have it shipped)

Thanks in advance, appreciate any firsthand input...

    1. I’m about 6’2” and fit easily, though not a ton of extra head room. My height is largely torso because my pant size inseam is 32”.
I would think 6’3” and long legged would work fine.
    2. For open air the HTC is far superior to the coupe. Press a button. I also like the nacelles styling and rear deck. Furthermore, youtubers have complained of wind noise and buffeting with coupe roof removed. Not ideal.
    3. I think one can certainly be had at MSRP. That is how I bought my silver flare one, MSRP off the lot (didn’t have an allocation yet).

Thank you, those were three precise and on-point answers. I'll start looking around the web.

(I've got to find a dealer that I can drive to and sit in one or test drive before wiring money though...last time I checked in Idaho Falls - our closest dealer - the guy wasn't letting anyone even sit in the car they had. You can imagine what I told the guy...so I won't be going back there.)

After getting three great answers to my initial questions, I'll try a few more:

    1) Is there a trim sweet spot? (I don't need tons of gadgets, but do like air cooled seats because they extend the top-down season into the hotter months)

    2) Any "must have" or "smart buyer gets" options that I should know about?

    3) Thoughts on magnaride and Z51 package?

    4) Seats. How do they compare? Comfort vs sporting?

    5) Open-ended - based on your C8 buying and owning, what would you advise a shopper?

    6) How long is ordering taking these days?

    Thanks folks!
