1. I think most buyers go for 2LZ. I like the upgraded leathers, stitching and alcantara in the 3LZ. 2. Front lift. Tow hook. If sitting get battery tender, but I’m sure can also easily order a ctek off amazon. 3. For me Z51 and the associated magnaride is a must, better sound and performance in a sportscar for just a few grand. There is a difference, car is much sharper and suspension configurable with magnaride. (Like Ferrari’s wet/sport/race). 4. With 3lz get the upgraded seats and they are perfect. Super comfortable for long drives (I’ve done 11 hr highway trips with perfect comfort) but also well bolstered. GM knows seats. Ferrari is a joke next to them. 5. Nothing comes to mind. Just have to forget the “it’s a great car for the price nonsense.” It’s a great car period. Drive the wheels off it. It’s not rare. It’s meant to be fun. 6. Probably a year to 18 months?
The best way to figure out the options with each trim is their very easy to use car configurator. https://www.chevrolet.com/performance/corvette/build-and-price/config
while the all leather dash is nice, it come unglued. huge job to fix. people find the cooling seats ineffective. 2024’s get an updated trans case. corvette tech experience is lacking. my 2023 had a cracked spark plug and bad plug wire. headlights have a tsb regarding paint chipping. dealer will repaint front bumper under warranty. buy all performance options. they are cheap. z06 will hold its value better. dont buy it as a collectible. its a dd car. stripe options are a decal not paint. eray and z06 have the wide body. get the steath or carbon fiber interior trim, the silver reflects a lot. lt1 interior is nice upgrade the seats to get two tone seats and carbon fiber
Opinions will vary, so I’ll toss mine in the ring. I had a Z51, 3LT, competition seats for about 18 months, 10k miles- most of those came from doing OneLap (~5K miles. 6 different tracks in 1 week). I currently have a Z06, 3LT, Z07, competition seats 1) 2LT is the minimum for me. But, why not 3LT? Ventilated seats are awesome, but admittedly not great in the C8. The exception would be dedicated track car- pull seats and strip it anyway. 2) magnaride- GM invented the tech. In full comfort c8 is a road trip machine, might as well be in a Cadillac. (Z06 is definitely more firm, less comfort as it should be) 3) z51 if you track it. If no tracking, why bother? I like the look without wing too. 4) competition seats (I’m 6’1”, 200#…ish)- great in the torso, and they look good. Absolutely stupid / terrible in the seat. Way, way too much bolster on the sides that press into the lateral thighs. Compare to McLaren and Porsche seats - worst part of the car, biggest disappointment. Having said that- after about 5k miles the side bolster starts to wear in a bit, which is a good thing. If not tracking, do NOT get the competition seats. 5) for a GT, not sure what is better. Performance/ comfort/ price. [Having said that, drove my Z06 on a road trip to a F dealer to test drive a Roma- holy cow, I love the Roma- more comfortable and more refined/special in every way as one might expect.] Expect “Chevy” delivery/service, etc. aggravating at times, but what else would one expect? 6) no clue
the service dept and techs are really lacking in c8 knowledge and social skills. think dinner at taco bell vs ruth chris steakhouse.
my 2023 c8 seems to have a nonrepairable misfire. GM has agreed to a full refund or exchange for another c8. if there isnt a similar spec car at a dealer then it will need to be ordered. the new car will be a 2024 model. what is the best decision here? appreciate all advice.
Full refund @ your purchase price? Plus taxes you paid? For me, I would want to know when a 24 will be delivered. My hunch, can be many months. That may be an issue for you. Hopefully there is a spec car - color and options that exceed your expectations available “immediately”. If not, hopefully the refund is an option for you. I would then, take those monies and sort a slightly used C8; or something else.
True. It’s not the techs per se. It’s the manufacturers training, revolving door for good techs that received better opportunities elsewhere. Unfortunately for all car manufactures.
I finally decided to order a C8 coupe today as I was allocated a 2024 I had previously been allocated a couple of others but figured I would take this one as I really want a Z06 allocation.. that should come next year ... I got an orange coupe 3LZ with the natural dipped leather interior and performance exhaust etc.. also got the bronze wheels package .. should look pretty good ....will drive some but still liking my 2013 cali for daily driver .. I am due for a Z06 allocation in the next year figured this car is great deal at the current pricing...order locked today so .. hoping it gets built before the strike hits corvette... I have owned over 40 corvettes in the past still have 3 others as far back as a 67 427/435 convertible...haveowned that forever 25 years....
There are currently almost 1,000 unfinished vetted (base and Z06) due to carbon shortage. All parked on a gravel lot.
Image Unavailable, Please Login Here's one of the temporary parking lots (400 - 500 cars). You can create a login at c8tracker.com which allows you to watch window stickers be released by GM once the cars are complete and available to ship. According to c8tracker, there are almost 1,000 window stickers missing for all types of vettes many of which were given a TPW (target production week) even though BGA knew certain options/parts would not be available. A certain part of the unfinished group of cars were "bonus" allocations (my car is one of them) given to dealers in late June and July which appear to have really gummed up the works in BGA. 2023 looks to be a record production year for corvette and that may have played a part too. Right now, it looks like E-ray production may continue to slip as more customers elect that car over a Z06 since it costs less but many want the aero which is tough to get. Also, I do not watch the Stingray production much but the Engine Appearance Package seemed to be a hold-up on many SR's and Z06s recently and some are being shipped with part of the package deleted for a $895 credit on the window sticker. Lots of delays in TPWs now since dealers get allocations each week but these allocations do not appear to reflect actual conditions at the plant. I would check with the dealer to see if they know anything. Some Z06's get built and shipped while others sit with the same option list so it makes no sense right now. The biggest issue with 23s now is they cannot go down the line again and must be completed at another facility. My dealer is less than 100 miles from BGA and knows nothing. I hear the wheels you ordered look fantastic.
Also, MacMulkin (biggest vette dealer) just stated that BGA may be shutting down Friday due to strike.
thanks for the info... AND I avoided the options that were on hold the best I could figure .. and hopefully I beat the strike but if not I will survive .. I think the wheels will look great on the color I chose... I am of course more anxious to get the Z06 just trying not to pay over sticker... and definitely want to be an original owner... I have not been on the corvette forums yet .. but hoping to be able to track the car....
Yes, I am excited about the car but I am NOT excited about taking delivery during the winter months, especially if my car continues to sit outside exposed to the elements for months. That's not how I treat my cars and I'll have a difficult time accepting the car if this scenario plays-out like that.
I have those wheels on my red mist SR, agree they look great. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Don't like the idea of a new car being left outside for some time. Not great on the paint and raw steel parts even if its not a really expensive car.
