    Watching c8 market drop!

I recall the c8 vs 360 purchase debate during the pandemic.. matched up pretty close on price at that time..

I wonder who made out better on depreciation if bought then vs todays prices..,

    C8 dropped 28% below the market top…

Idk about during the pandemic, but today, I'd opt for the C8, even though I've never been a fan of vettes.

BaT auction history looks like 360's trended up ever so slightly, though the OEM 6MT 360's are likely down since then.

I'm just happy that at that time, I bought an M7 Z06 instead of a C8 and those prices haven't seen nearly as much movement...

Had two reservations for the new Z06. One very early too. Went with the F430 and never looked back. It’s the sexier car. Plus a buddy of mine that bought the Z06 has had nothing but problems and the forums seem the show more of the same.

to top it all off, there was an article published recently how GM is sharing driver data with insurance companies without direct consent. Hard pass on that.

When I bought my 991 last october, I could have bought a C8 at exactly the same price. I'm NOT a vette guy. No denim shorts for me! ;)

It's a Vette and they've made literally a million of them. Their fully depreciated value is going to be like $10 to 30k. They've got alot to fall still..

I was cross shopping the c8 but I opted for the 360mt mainly because the c8 exhaust note just wasn’t that great in my opinion and it just didn’t have the fizz that a Ferrari has.

I would never buy a car to make an investment but I’m not upset about how the market has treated both.

Though I will say I think gated prices may soften for a bit before they ever go up again, if they ever do.

I don't think people are saying they are buying a 360 as an investment but the depreciation curve does have a high bottom compared to a standard C8. Production is catching up to the demand and now people are going over MSRP and lots of people who paid during the park of the market will get swept. I am a long term Corvette owner and forum member but too many people are trying to escape out of the disaster they created. The new car market will push down the used values heavily since the C8 is mass produced compared to a 360 with only 5k 360's ever touching U.S soil. Buying a 360 right now and leveraging financing is like leasing the car to yourself. It's won't tank like the C8. Why would anyone choose a C8 over a 360? You are a goof ball if you did and who cares about the tech in a sports car? You have a daily driver for that.

I had an order in for a basic 1LT with sport exhaust, assuming it would be an awesome daily sitting next to our 430. A used one came in I could drive just to check out while waiting. It felt big, really fast and pretty nimble for it size, but totally not for me, so I pulled the order immediately after. There's no hiding that you're sitting in a Chevy, and that's just not my thing. Amazing bang for the buck though.

To, the Z8 has made 2 confessions:

    1. The Italian aesthetics are better, so the Z8 copied it
    2. The corvette lineage and heritage (long hood, front engine, American V8 sound, flowing bodyworks) is inferior in performance to the Italian design so it's abandoned.

So what are you when you have abandoned your heritage and blatanly copied something else that belongs to some other heritage. The Porsche never gave up on its rear engine 911 aesthetics or performance. They simply grunted down and made it better.

And the 360 is just so beautiful, with super model lines and rear end. As my wife put it with the C8...it looks like a drag queen. "A decent looking dress and lots of makeup, but still not the real thing underneath".

I was looking at adding a C8 at wholesale today and wholesale is in the 50s now. Next month's wholesale projection is $4k less! Retail price follows 45-60 days so you might see retail in the 50s by summer and 40s probably in 2026. C7s have softened quite a bit and 2019s are already wholesaling in the 40s.

I am picking up a gated 360 spider personally for less than a C8 Z06 1LT this week ... let's check this again in a few years :)

I liked it when it first came out. Then it starts to look like a exaggerated toy car. Then I started seeing 1 almost everyday so the style just quickly soured. I actually like the C7 better at this point. I don't think the C8 style would age well IMHO.

I’d consider a 30k beater — turn into track rat.

I like the C7 and C8 from the front, but they strayed too far on the back. The C6 was the last all around good-looking Vette imo.

That seemed to be the biggest gripe even from owners on the corvette forum. The back side just lets it down a bit. I can't put my finger on it, but it looks like it was squished in the middle and the tail end points downwards too much. Would have been nicer if it had more of a duck tail. The spoilers help, but only so much.

For me it's mostly the circles and curves on the C6 rear being replaced with lines and angles on the C7. The spacing of the four tail pipes also reached its limit on the C6, as that look no longer works without an odd spacing in between the two pairs of pipes. Four in a row at equal spacing on the C7 was overdone. They fixed that on the C8 but the design still looks a bit lost given how slowly the Corvette evolved from the 80s to the 2000s.

Another constraint with designing the rear may be the deep trunk. I think a diffuser like the 360/430 that creates a decent bit of void space under the rear would have helped out a lot. Hopefully they get another good crack at it before the electric motors take over.

Just binge watched "How it's made; dream cars" on HBO Max last night. Amongst the supercars they have a Camaro episode, which will clear up any questions as to why Chevy doesn't belong in this conversation:)
