I thought GM vette engineers said there is no manual that can fit in this platform and take the power ?

Why would the zr1 suddenly have this issue fixed?

All of the c8s have the same powerplant space correct?

  2. Yeah, MT is not happening.

    It's just internet vaporware.

850 HP, Turbocharged, DCT, Monster wing. Probably top speed limited to the 180's with massive downforce but should run low 10's and trap 140+ I'd think. It's going to be quite a thing. I wonder what the premiums will be. Probably massive.

We've been away for the past three weeks and my car has been parked since we left.

Took it out yesterday and the check engine light came on and has not gone out. I checked the codes and the only thing showing up is "the car's not ready for emissions test".

No change in drivability, so I'll probably take it on a couple of short drives between now and when I can get an appointment with Chevy. There's a guy on YouTube that had the same thing happen and it's apparently (in his case, at least) a software glitch that GM's aware of and are working to solve.

Given the engine's been removed once already, I'm a little nervous about what to expect.

Car came off the truck with a bad fuel pressure sensor. I was there when it was delivered to the dealership and the truck driver told me there was a problem with the car; he barely got it off the truck.

They had to pull the engine for the repair.

that motor is powerful and perfect in a high performance suv, but no way does it have the chops for a supercar. its too dull

They worked over the motor quite a bit, puts out good power. Car is just too heavy. Watch Harry’s Garage review of the Cielo.
I remember people said similar about the new Ford GT which don’t seem to deter sales.

The new Ford GT weighs 3381 pounds per Car & Driver, which would put it in the same range as a 458 with fluids, so not out of line with others in this field.

Maserati just doesn’t perform at a level commensurate to its price. I think it ran a 7:25 at the Ring, which is in the range of M3 CS/C8 Stingray/Carrera S, and plus there’s the infamous Maserati reliability…

And they don’t seem to be holding their value particularly well: recently one sold on BaT for over something like $80K below sticker, No such issue with the Ford GTs.

I like the C8 Z06 but the MC20 is a *MUCH* better looking car (IMHO). So, at least one category in favor of the MC20 (in my opinion!). The C8's lines have been compromised to provide the trunk space for the proverbial "2 sets of golf clubs". The Z06 has better proportions than the Stingray (and some of the styling elements improve the look, particularly with the Z07 package) but I still wouldn't call it a pretty car. Now it's not a bad looking car, but I think the lines are compromised. Maserati has done the opposite and provided almost zero(lol!) storage capacity in order to deliver a beautiful car. I agree about the weight, kind of ridiculous with a carbon tub.

I have no doubt the C8 (in any trim) is a better track car than the MC20. I don't track my street cars so that's not a factor for me, but I recognize many do and it's a valid consideration.

    (I don't own either car)

The thing about the C8 Stingray/Z06 lines is this: is this: they were in a damned if you do, damned if you don’t sit situation in that if they made them look smooth/angular like a Ferrari/Lambo, they would get lambasted for looking too much like a Ferrari/Lambo, whereas if they made them look different, they’re going to be criticized for being too different. So it was a no-win situation. I think it’s a good looking car.
