Yes, there is an initial airbag warning when I start the car. I

I just press the button on the right side of the steering wheel.

A small red airbag icon does stay on in the upper left corner of the display but it is very small and is not distracting even when driving at night.

I am sure there will be something available soon that will eliminate the airbag warning.

Seems hard to believe, but I've had my car for a year now. The novelty hasn't worn off at all, and I'm still intoxicated with the sound the car makes. I've only seen a couple of others since getting mine; Cybertrucks are a more common sighting around here.

I'm at 6300 miles and was wondering how much you guys are driving yours.

Apparently GM has extended the free oil & transmission service to two years, but won't do the tranny service until the 7k mark. I had the engine oil done at about 1500 miles and will wait until sometime in the spring and do them both.

Aside from a check engine light a couple of times (no drivability issues), the car has been perfect since I took delivery.

Yup, an oil change around 1,000 miles is good. Definitely should wait for your first free service until that major tranny service at 7K miles. That's an expensive service if you have to pay out of pocket.

I've had my car for a year as well but have only managed to put on 2,500 miles because our weather is tough up here in winter and my car was in the shop for 6 months getting new seats installed.

Still love the car! I would rather have a 675LT but I am unwilling to deal with all the complications that come with McLaren ownership.

The ZO6 gives me 90% of the thrills without any of the BS of the Mac's. :)

I thought to reply to @JV's89 post since I agreed how much fun it had been owning the Z06 but I got lazy .

Seeing @Wikdstrate's post I now feel compelled to chime in.
I owned my '23 Z06 from Jan 24 to just a few weeks ago. It only had 50 miles! on it when I picked it up, obv the first owner didn't drive it.
I had traded in my '21 812 GTS that I had since new. I needed to down size and this Z06 was sitting there. I had owned a '15 Z06 & '19 ZR1 previously , both great cars but not exotic enough for me, their interiors a bit sub-par, ride wasn't as solid as the Europeans. (I guess that's where costs savings come in)

Then upon driving the newer Z06 I was gobsmacked! The ride , the interior , the power, the sound, everything was outstanding and felt like quality. I was banging the drum on what a great car, I still think so. I got to put over 2,000 miles on it in 10 months, loved every time I got into it, always a big smile. No worrying about the cost to fix something (everyday I drove the GTS , I worried , bit my nails albeit another great car)

But being a car guy with a little means is fun and a curse :D , so it didn't last.

I sold it and bought an unregistered '23 MC20 Cielo. Nice car, like the looks, the ride is smoother and the interior roomier. But definitely the Z06 is more powerful and outrageous. I would have no problem getting back into a Vette.
    In fact I just picked up a '22 CT5-V Blackwing - it's a 4 door Vette ! and stick.

Yeah, GM didn’t gear the C8 optimally for any of the variants. If you look at ratios vs the competition, the steps are larger. 5th is a pretty large drop. Fortunately on most tracks in the US that won’t be a problem, but on the ring it’s definitely a problem.

I just went on YouTube to watch a C8 Z06 pull to see this gearing thing. 5th gear goes from 135 to 188 MPH yeah that's tall. I never understood this. I owned a C6 and C7 Vette back in the day same issue. I mean I get it on the ancient cars there were fewer gears but let's advertise a 7 speed or an 8 speed and 5th gear takes the car to almost 200 MPH. Makes zero sense. Just make the last gear a tall gear for the MPG and leave all the other ones tight for quicker acceleration.

Agreed. There’s no really “good” reason for doing this other than keeping out to save some money. I read that Tadge Uchter and the team had wanted separate gear sets for the Stingray, the Z06, and the ZR1, but got overruled by the good old bean counters. As it stands now, supposedly the present gearing is optimized only for the ZR1, and I’m not even sure how well it’s optimized for that.

5th is kind of a moot point for drivers who don’t drive on the ring or, possibly, COTA, or do standing miles etc, or are just insane and menace to society, ;) but it sure hurts in the bragging rights department. :) To be honest, the gears from 3rd up are definitely not as tightly spaced as they should be. Still, it’s plenty quick, and on the American tracks it’s a monster.

The ZR1 pulls 6th gear to the decline at 8000 rpm and 233 mph

They could have compromised and had one set optimized for the ZR1 and Zora and another optimized for the Z06 (and also used it in the Stingray and E-ray). I wonder how much cost that would have added…

The gearsets were optimized for the stingray which is a relatively low rev hi tq motor, what does 5th pull at 5500rpm that's the answer. Plus Gm has a habit of tall gearing to fuel economy. realistically for track 5th need not pull more than 160. from tests while the z06 has excellent 0-60 above 100mph the rates fall off markedly in relation to the competition. while weight aero and hp are factors the biggest in the z06 above 100 is gearing.

I just got a ride in my neighbours car last week and my lord this is an amazing sounding car. The 458 sounds amazing but this is next level. Stock exhaust absolutely screams and he's planning on getting a Fabspeed exhaust next. Probably one of the best V8s ever fitted to a car.

I have owned my Z06 for about a year now but have just a little over 1000 miles on it. I love the car and find it very inciting to drive hard. I always keep the trans in manual mode and once its warmed up keep the RPMs in the power range .. It very easy to break the rear end loose in a controlled slide especially in cold weather ... The car sounds fantastic and loves to rev. mine is a 3LZ model so plenty of luxury... I still need to get the first oil change ,,
I find the build quality to be excellent and feels sturdy for the driving I do. Interesting I keep this car in my garage and daily drive my 2013 Black Ferrari California HS..which is also a bunch of fun ...
    Eventually I will add a ZR1 maybe...

^ pay for the first engine oil/filter approx $150 and pay for the trans filter change approx $750.
both of these should be done.
when do you “time out” for the free engine oil/filter and trans filter/flush?
