Which is the dealer one can actualy place an order at and wait even if it 2 years..
Criswell in MD has the largest allocation nationwide. Their Corvette specialist is a fellow named Mike Furman.
One of my local guys gets 2. And he is selling at 25k to 40k over msrp. Are these larger vette dealers at msrp?
My dealer in Richmond, Va is selling at MSRP. Smallish dealer, I have no idea how many allocations they will get. Plenty of dealers will sell at MSRP, but if you aren’t on a list by now, you will likely have to wait.
The big 3 sell at MSRP on ordered cars. I don't think its the same for a car they order and put in their showrooms. I use Criswell also but they are stacked full of orders. Dealers in LA are saying 2 years. I keep hearing it from people who have tried. Not sure if its BS but its hard to get them.
^^^ Stingrays are averaging 12-14 months from deposit to delivery even now (3 MY's in), I would bet if one is not on a Z06 list now, 2 years to get a car is probably right.
I think it's possible it could be a lot worse than that. Wouldn't surprise me if someone trying to get in line now waited 3yrs or longer. Could be wrong, but just wouldn't surprise me given how far out we are still from MY '23 deliveries, tight allocations and less people foregoing their slots (typically 50% of corvette reservations are declined when the number comes up, not with C8), potential production shortfalls over chip shortages, etc.
And also some production is going to Europe, Australia, and Japan. Maybe 5K cars a year may end up taking away from total capacity in Bowling Green.
Wow I had no idea. And they should. This car will take the world by storm, but the world's gotta get some first.
I just called my dealer here and they will not order you one you can just buy the one they ordered at $30k over msrp. Anyone have a contact I could call to get on an actual list to order a car?
Mike Furman at Criswell in Gaithersburg, MD. There are two other larges, one is Kerbeck. Not sure where they are. Bob will know. But I'm certain you can have your car drop shipped for a fee or pick up from the museum. Don't have to come to MD.
2-3 year wait I was told. However they also said lots of peole on the list fall out so could be the shorter end. no way to know. Im good with that, by then some of these cars will have been extensively tracked, chevy will have ironed out some flaws and dine some upgrades.
Mike takes your credit card and doesn’t charge until he knows more about an allocation for the buyer. At least that’s what he did for me.
Exactly the same for me. I asked him if he wanted money and he said not at this time. But he will ask for one later when he gets an allocation. I don't know how much that will be and YMMV depending on how long a relationship you've had with him.
I've had two different experiences. First order the C8 was $1k to hold another $1k when taking my build sheet last Feb. The Z06 hold during the C8 build he asked nothing. No matter which experience you have, he'll be extremely reasonable and easy to work with.
My experience was the same but I believe the circumstances are different. When I put in my order for a C8 he had allocations already. He didn't know when convertibles would be available but he had no problem taking a deposit on them as he knew he already had some allocations (there were no restrictions on ordering coupes vs HTC's). Obviously the GM strike and Covid pushed his estimate of HTC delivery from "spring" to "fall". I sent him a couple of emails during that period that I was still interested in purchasing one when they were available, whenever that was. In the case of the Z06, from my talking with him for several months, he has not received any allocations on the Z06. Mike is pretty straightforward with non- nonsense, which is why I like working with him. I'm not saying other dealers aren't but what he says usually comes true from what I can see.
Mike's great, but there's one thing he told me a year ago that turned out to be false. He told me not to believe the hype or the rumors on the Z06...haha All came true, every last rumor. Only one I find suspect still is the talk of heavy use of magnesium for parts like the DCT case, possibly wheels. I'm not buying it, could be true but I don't think there's enough evidence to go on yet. Then again I don't read everything.
Yah well I think its because he wanted to get as many Stingray orders as possible. Some people were waiting for the Z06. At the time I talked to him, it wasn't even clear there wasgoing to be a Z06 or Grandsport or even the rumored Zora which we have no information on. I think Chevy was working on whether to use Turbos or the race motor. But he's pretty straight forward and direct in the purchasing process, which I like. Rather no nonsense.
Bingo! On the money, Bob. I had an order in on a C8, got all hot and bothered asking about the Z06 and he was protecting that C8 order so I didn't bail on it. That's exactly what he was doing and rightly so. Doesn't make what he said untrue when he said it, just bore out over time that all the wonderful rumors were correct. But yes, it wasn't lost on me at the time that he was protecting his pipeline but that was also very much in my best interests. I'd be sitting here today with no C8 and no hope of a Z06 for two more years if I had opted to wait. It never crossed my mind, but he didn't know that.
