^^^ Again, those were my WAG's...I hope I'm wrong and they start building ZR1's last quarter 2024. But the way every other C8 variant has staggered out of the starting gate, were it me, I wouldn't be in huge hurry to sell the Z06.
Yah after being on a list for the Z06 for three years it did make my eyes roll seeing this. My first reaction was "you gotta lot of nerve".
What do you think Chevrolet should do? Not show a new car until it can start production the NEXT day? Hint: No one does that. As far as people saying how long they were on a list...well, when you get on a list 1-2 years before the maker even admits the model exists, that's on you. There are people that have been on a C8 ZR1 list for nearly FIVE years. And we're not even to the five year anniversary of the C8 Stingray being shown, much less produced...
There are rumors that the car itself will not be previewed on July 25th, just the specs. Either way, it looks like they are making the announcement several days prior to the chief engineer's retirement on or around August 1st. What Chevy should do is have a stated timeline without all of the mystery then build a car where the parts are available so it isn't on constraint. Both the Z06 and Eray were botched on roll out as the cars were difficult to get as ordered. My frustration with Chevy goes back to the 2006 Z06 where my car had to be re-routed to a Jack Rousch facility for some re-work to fix several issues after the car passed QC. I am lucky that my car does not have the DCT issue or ticking noise. Its a great car but will be sale shortly as we await the ZR1
I think they should satisfy all those who wanted a Z06 first-- those still on long waiting lists --before introducing a new model that no one can buy,
^^^ There’s no doubt in my mind that IF Chevrolet could build enough Z06’s to wipe out the waiting lists in a year, they WOULD do it, purely from a profitability standpoint. Ditto eRay.
They haven’t built 1,000 eRays yet… The conspiracy theory that Chevrolet would “back burner” the Z06 to produce more eRays is NOT what has happened.
^^^ No. As of Friday 6/21, they’ve built 609 eRays. Some dealer inventory programs show sold cars as available inventory, which starts the internet humming…and all for naught.
Indeed. 402 for sale nationally on Autotrader. I wonder where the ZR1 will trade at in the secondary market.
Interesting rendering. Seems to have some Lexus LFA influence (if this is an accurate depiction), especially at the rear. I guess we'll find out soon.
The big question is whether or not the engine and suspension upgrades will justify the expected large increase in price. The engine hopefully will be a big jump in hp/tq as the rest of the car will remain very similar to a Z06/Z07 variant.
I agree, it's going to have to be VERY special car for me to justify the purchase. I am #2 at a fairly large dealership and will likely get an allocation. I doubt I will take the build spot but my mind may change once I see the car in-person.
Chevy needs to announce a paint to sample program for the vette to get people excited. Hopefully we will know something tomorrow night. Kinda thinking this car won't be available until late summer/fall 2025.
