Cabin noise thoughts ?

when I drive my competition I like to hear the engine sound, the turbos and not like to talk to the passenger. this we can do when we take a rest for a coffee

and in switzerland it would be better to watch out for speed checking and not talk to the passenger. even with 3500 rpm in 5th gear you are too fast for swiss streets , that is why I nearly not go to switzerland even I just live at the border.

 

We have travelled in ours many times. Its my favorite use for the car and we don't have any issues talking.
Its also the reason I have kept the stock US exhaust system. I hate needless noise.

 

Engine noise or wind noise? Check your rubber door seals if it is the latter. I have a Capistro system on mine and have done long days in the car at speed without much noise fatigue.

 

I have no complaints over 160 Kph and I am noise sensitive.
Swiss cars have extra noise reduction insulation. It should be quieter than ours.

 

That camera angle is fire.

 

I actually am not a fan of overly loud cars. I have checked my Boxer with Borla exhaust, and it typically is under 80db (IIRC 75-77) with iPhone. This is on a smooth freeway at aprox 110kph. Interesting to point out that we had an '07 Honda Odyssey van which was consistently louder. It would top 80db at cruise speed on freeway. WOT was of course worse. Even with all of the heavy interior bits, carpet etc. We installed the tar-based noise reducing panels all over, and that helped slightly.

The Ferrari would be tougher to do this tar panel install. I think the doors already have a heavy undercoating making very difficult. Dropping the headliner would make me think twice. I've done several 100 mile drives, and a 400 mile drive. Letting the car roll a little faster, or WOT produces great V!2 music at higher SPL than Honda and agree, cruise sound level can never be low enough. FWIW, when tires are fresh, this makes a notable difference in cabin noise.

Weather stripping makes a nice difference on our older cars if you hear a wind noise leak. Turn up radio or AC to help mask.

Other than that, I love it for what it is!

 

Many of the unibody cars have more road noise,(Honda) etc. The older full frame cars( Ford Crown Vic etc.) were better.

 

Many Testarossas and TR 512s came from the factory with improperly installed back windows. When glued in it was an incomplete seal almost always all along the top edge. Sometimes the gap was rather large. Due to the overhang they never leak water but do let in a lot of engine noise. The side windows when rolled up at high speed often catch the seal edge and fold it in preventing full closure of the glass. That creates a lot of wind noise.
