My clutch cable broke so I am wondering if I should go ahead and replace the throttle cable at the same time. Is it any easier to do them at the same time? Do they typically fail at about the same interval?

I replaced my clutch cable last summer. The reason it was fraying was due to the small plastic pulley wheel under the car. I did not see any indication that clutch cable wear and throttle cable wear could be related. After they leave the pedals, they follow different routes. If you are under the car, and inspect the throttle cable, it may be good or bad, but probably independent of the clutch cable. After removing one piece under the body, you can replace the clutch cable. I don't know if it is much more work to do the throttle cable while you are in there. So I would inspect it and "don't fix what aint broke". I would inspect the throttle cable at the ends and any places where it visibly enters or exits the body (like at the firewall and near the pedal).

If you replace it, let us know any lessons learned or hints.

The throttle cable carries very little tension, compared to the clutch cable. I'd be surprised if the throttle cable was badly fraid enough to warrant replacing, unless there was something wrong with the way it was routed. If it were me, I'd simply inspect the throttle cable before going to the time and effort to replace it.

I just replaced my clutch cable last month or so when it broke at the little pulley.

I replaced my throttle cable last year when the inner sheath pulled out with the cable in the passenger compartment "inpsection area" and stuck at WOT one time . . . no freying though.
