Having just launched its new flagship Aventador suepercar, Lamborghini has reportedly already begun extensive work on the Gallardo successor. Tipped to be named the Cabrera, the new entry level Lambo will continue the tradition of V10 power and AWD of Lambos most successful model ever. Power is expected to reach the 600-hp mark, with a serious focus on light weight components although its not yet clear if the car will include a full carbon fiber chassis tub like the Sesto Elemento concept car (above). With that power rating look for the cars official title to be Lamborghini Cabrera LP600-4 when it arrives some time in 2012. http://www.autoguide.com/auto-news/2011/03/lamborghini-cabrera-tipped-to-replace-gallardo-with-600-horsepower.html Image Unavailable, Please Login
http://www.autoblog.com/2011/03/30/lamborghinis-gallardo-replacing-cabrera-to-pack-600-supercharge/ The replacement to Gallardo comes into a competitive environment with the F458 and the McLaren 12C. It would be interesting to see how it performs. Lamborghini is definitely in high gear replacing both model lines within a short period!
That "tip" about the Cabrera name came from this post: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showpost.php?p=140366656&postcount=10 In other words, ApexOversteer had his tongue firmly in his cheek when he wrote that post. As for a Lambo with forced induction...I think that might be the first in the company's history.Could be very interesting.
Just like I said in Apex' post ; Cabrera makes a lot of sense ... it's another of the bulls breeds in the vein of Jalpa , Gallardo etc. foundational breeds or castas fundacionales also known as "encastes" Jalpa Gallardo Cabrera Jijona Morucha Jiménez Vazqueña Espinosa Zapata Navarra Vistahermosa one of these must be the name for the next breed pick your favorite ... Now I'm really curious and intrigued about Apex' source or how he was "tipped"
LOL... So far the Cabrera is going to... Be made of Carbonfiber Reinforced Plastic... Make 600hp... Be supercharged...
My source was mostly Cthulu, with help from the Sun God Ra and Santa Claus. Seriously, it is nothing more than speculation, driven by things Winklemann has said, the current trends in supercar technology, and my own opinions of what VAG intend to use Lamborghini for. I got the Cabrera name right off of a Wikipedia page about Spanish Fighting Bull breeders. I wrote most of that post last year, before the Aventador had been released, for my own amusement, and to see how much of it turns out to be close to the truth.
if folks out there are too dumb to figure things out, then jeez, at least give you the credit you deserve
The Cabrera thing is actually getting quite serious: http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=23&t=985243&mid=0&nmt=RE%3A+Gallardo+Replacement+To+Be+Called+Cabrera Pistonheads is claiming that the source is a French magazine, which in turn claims to have got it from Winklemann. This whole ordeal makes me want to start a forum post detailing Ferrari's plans for the next decade
Hopefully its not a "recycled" design like the Avendator is. If its based on that concept it will look more like a Cala hopefully.
The pic is definetely a Sesto. http://www.google.com/images?q=sesto+elemento&rls=com.microsoft:en-US&oe=utf8&rlz=&um=1&ie=UTF-8&source=og&sa=N&hl=en&tab=wi&biw=1003&bih=611 http://www.tunner.org/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/Lamborghini-Sesto-Elemento-Side-View.jpg
as with most Lambos names ...despite being a foundational bull breed CABRERA is a game of words ... (besides being a popular last name just like Gallardo) since most spanish words starting with the preffix CABR = GOAT are slang and it's used to describe "something" very cocky for instance ; "The Most Male" sic. Macho Goat "The Bestest" sic. Having said that : whoever picks the names for Lambos is a genius who masters and dominates spanish and also likes to play games
The car in the pic is great looking, IMHO, and would be a fitting successor to the G. I first saw this car in a Callaway golf advert in TGW catalog. Looks VERY racy, maybe too much so, but it is a Lambo.
