Makes sense and saves money for other things/priorities.

Cadillac-Ferrari F1 deal could extend to suspension
Having already struck a deal with Ferrari for engines and gearboxes, Cadillac could extend that relationship to include suspension as well

Cadillac is evaluating whether to source suspension parts from Ferrari after completing a deal for power units and gearboxes ahead of its Formula 1 debut in 2026.

Should the American team expand its collaboration with the Maranello operation to include the supply of suspension, it would use a similar concept to fellow US squad Haas, which has been following this path since it joined the grid in 2016.

For now there is no official confirmation, but the deal, in addition to securing a high-level technical base for development, would allow Cadillac to invest in other areas of research and, most importantly, to find the necessary personnel to run two cars in 2026.

Multiple teams on the grid source suspension from elsewhere. Apart from Haas, Racing Bulls has a similar deal with sister squad Red Bull, while Aston Martin also receives the complete rear end from Mercedes.

Has Ilmor designed and built a complete power unit combining ICE, electric motor and battery that work in unison?
I don't think so, So, starting from scratch, it will take time before they obtain a competitive PU. At least 5 years.
Apart from Mercedes having a head start, all the others struggled: Ferrari, Renault, Honda.

Every new team inherits the experieces of existing teams. The hybrid era and technology is no longer young. Design and tech specs and wind tunnel results can all be bought. There is ten years of racing to sift through and analyse, and you have AI to do it. Cadillac aka Andretti will hit the ground running and could easily find itself fith or sixth in the points at the end of its first season...if they don't hire back marker drivers. Sainz, Alonzo, Leclerc (if Hamilton eats his lunch), either McLaren driver, Russell, any and all of them could be looking for a new home four months from now. Cadillac aka Andretti is already cozying up to all the managers.

Hiring a back marker as a driver is nothing more than hiring an alibi for failure.

Somewhat smaller cars, active aero and getting rid of the MGU-H. The kw=hp goes up from 160kw to 300kw.

But still under the budget cap ! So they cannot afford to throw a transmission away every practice session.
