I always found Cadillacs, the new models, to be interesting. Just am wondering about the products. Do they compare with the performance and luxury of Audi, MB, BMW, ect?

Also, is GM running the employee discount on this line, and Hummer? If so, why? Wouldn't this hurt what the Cadillac brand is trying to do, go upscale and be stay above a certain price limit? Isn't Cadillac doing pretty well? Is Ford and other companies doing the same with with its discount program on the luxury models?

The only Caddy worth considering from a "performance" perspective is the CTS-V

They are not to the level of BMW, Audi, etc. yet, but they are getting there.

The only models exempt from the current GM promotion are the Corvette and GTO. Cadillac is doing pretty well, but they need to clear out the 2005's to make room for the 2006's, just like everyone else.

One good thing about Cadillac - they are continually improving their models, unlike years past. This month's Automobile has a comparison of the Infiniti G35, BMW 330i and CTS. The CTS was more competitive than I thought it would be. They mentioned that there is an improved sport package for the 2006 CTS, with 18 inch wheels and revised damping, even though there will be an all-new CTS for 2007. The old GM would have just waited for the next model, looks like they are at least trying.

I'm pretty sure Ford doesn't offer their discount on Lincolns...could be wrong though.

The Northstar was a ground breaking engine for 1992, but it's now an "also ran" up against the new engines from the competition. My daily driver is a Northstar Allante (I really like Pininfarina!), but as with a previous poster the only modern Cadillac that tempts me is the CTS-V...and it has too many doors and is ugly to boot...

Not sure why anyone would buy the XLR over the Corvette...
