from Facebook: The September Caffeine and Octane will take place this Sunday at Northview High School in John's Creek. The address is 10625 Parsons Road, Johns Creek Ga. For those unfamiliar it's near the intersection of State Bridge and Hwy 141. Looks like there will be a lot of room there, and the vendors will have their own area. Map and details to come at Caffeineandoctane.com Gates will not open till 7AM, so no need to get there early. Food Trucks should be available.
I like the new venue, but it won't be able to handle the crowds. It was nice meeting you Mike. Go bucks! Bill
The new venue is good, I like the tiered parking. There was more parking on the side and towards the State Bridge side. I don't know if it filled up but whern i walked over that way around 9-9:30 there were still some spots open. i can't understand why however a bunch cars need to park at 45 deg angles. there were 6 350Zs taking up 8 spots and another group of BMWs doing the same thing. Oh well, there was something for everyone. Nice to meet Mr Jenkins. On behalf of my wife, go Vikings.
Agreed on the comments........First entered and thought I had been into somones Nissan parking lot for car sales.......but, the tiered parking lot opens it up a bit, and gives you a nice few from the upper levels on what is there. (Someone needs to really tell these people with the tents to just go-away). I was there about 730 and some schmo, as I'm backing into a spot, asks if I can move over one so they can set up their tent. Pretty sure I saw all vendors up-front, or, at the very least nothing until after 8am. (Guess reading and just pure common sense was not taught in their school that day......... but Greed-101 was a full class) At this place, I figure the school can pull in all the proceeds from the food sales, and sorry but the vendors can all just stay at home. (Heck, if they had a donation bucket for parking I'm sure anyone would not mind throwing in a $5 as-well)
What I didn't see you there. Checked out our buddy Allan's new ride!. Pretty sweet. Next time you are in town and going to it let me know. Would love to catch up.
Seth....missed ya also. Last I saw you were in Allan's car, then poof...... There is always next time. Nice turnout today, and nice to see everyone.
We arrived late and saw Alan's AWESOME RS 4.0, jeez what a car. Seems like this is a great place for the show. Lots of great cars! Great seeing you guys!
I got there at 7 and left at 8, couldn't stay the whole time. I will definitely give you a call when I get back in town Nice to meet you as well and tell the wife I said thanks
Glad to hear the new location worked well. We decided to try something on a smaller scale this month so the I took the Lambo guys to Perimeter Mall for some coffee and then we went for a drive around Buckhead and got some breakfast. It was nice for a change but we will be back to the big show soon once the Aventadors start arriving. Here are some pictures - http://edbolian.com/?p=843
If this location sticks and becomes permanent, I hope they move the time up to the afternoon. No point in starting it so early if there are no opening businesses to interfere.
Sorry, Mick, but I disagree. I like the idea of an early show so that it doesn't kill the whole day. You get up, go to the show, and when it's over you still have the rest of the day to do other things. I will admit that it does get in the way of watching European G.P. races, but that only happens occasionally. Frankly, I'd prefer shifting the show to when it originally was - Saturday morning! Those of us who were there at the start remember when the show was moved to Sunday to appease the merchants at The Avenue who complained about lack of parking for their customers, which was less of a problem on Sunday because they opened later. We lost some regulars who were avid church-goers, and we'd get them back if we switched back to Saturday. P.S. Since I couldn't be there on Sunday, did anyone take any photos???? You can't rely on me always being there.
One reason for the success is the early hours of the show that allow you to have nearly a full day afterwards. Lots of people are calling it "car church". My gut feeling is that it would be a bad idea to move to either Saturday or later hours. No matter when it is held, it will affect some people negatively. Judging by the nomadic nature of the show in recent months, word of mouth sure gets around since the place was jumping yesterday, it was a great turnout. If you are on Facebook, there are several good albums posted of the event, including my own. Other people take a lot more photos than I do, since I'm usually hanging out w/friends and I have more fun looking at the cars than shooting them. http://public.fotki.com/grdeyed/car_shows/caffeine--octane-09-2011/ http://www.facebook.com/CaffeineAndOctane
Thanks for the photo links. Looks like the usual eclectic mix, some familiar, some unfamilar, as expected. I don't particularly care that much between Saturday or Sunday; in fact for October it would have to be Sunday, since on Saturday, a lot of us will be at the Petit Le Mans. But in any case, earlier is better.
