For those of you who can patronize the Flowery Branch show, by all means do so. It's a great show in a nice community with a tasty Low Country Boil for lunch.

But if that's a bit too far, here are some alternatives for those of us who live west of GA-400:

"Caffeine & Octane" monthly free show at The Avenue East Cobb on the east-west Roswell Road, from 8:30 to 11 AM.
"Redline Invitational" car show at Dave & Busters in Marietta off of Delk Road, from 10 AM to 4 PM. $25 entry; 17 classes, including one for "exotics". A pool tournament will be going on inside simultaneously.

A nice day for two car shows!

In East Cobb there were probably 40 cars, including an unusually broad Italian turnout. At one point we had, side by side, my 328, a 348, a Murcielago, a Ghibli, and a Fiat 1500 spider! And nearby were a Pantera and a Bimota motorcycle! All I guess we needed was an Alfa.....

Britain was also well represented with an MGB, an E-type, a Lotus Elan (original type), a Land Rover and one of Triumph's retro-styled bikes. There were 4 Porsches and the usual mix of Cobras, Shelbys, GTOs (Pontiac) and Corvettes along with niceties like a '39 Olds (with modern power) and a '69 Barracuda. An old Ford pickup (Model A?) had a Corvette engine!

My favorite car there was a beautiful '58 Porsche 356 roadster in aquamarine blue, with a three-tone interior and a unique AM/FM/SW radio that slides out of its mount and has its own antenna and battery, so you can use it as a portable radio!

    Photos will come about midweek.

The show at Dave & Busters had a nice turnout of cars, but I wasn't impressed with most of them, since the majority were overly-customized American or Japanese types. But quite a few were owned by enthuiastic teens who really liked the Ferrari.

I was parked next to two nice Acura NSXs that turned out to be the only competition in the Import Exotic class. Both were red/black, but one was a '91 coupe and the other an '03 targa, so you could really see how the design had evolved. I predicted I would take 3rd in class behind them, and that's how it turned out. So I have another bowling trophy to find space for. (Ironically another red/black NSX, this one about a '97, arrived late and parked next to the other two, but he wasn't judged.)

I did see a black 355 berlinetta go by in the next row, but I later found it parked in the spectator lot and have no idea who it was. And as they were giving out the awards, a red 348 spider went by in the distance.
