Well, now that it's a new month, that means it's time for the monthly "Caffeine & Octane" gathering at The Avenue East Cobb this coming Saturday morning, 8/5, from 8:30 AM to about 11:00 or so.

Last month there was a record turnout of cars, and I'd like to see that equaled, with maybe a few more exotics? Come out before the heat of the day, have breakfast at Panera Bread, and chat with a variety of classic car owners. It's always a good time.

I made a flyer for this show, too. Feel free to print it out and use it as you wish.

WOW! Some eighty cars, trucks and bikes came this month, and parking nearly ran out! Something for everyone, including quite a few newbies. Lots of British cars, including at least 5 Jaguars, including a great XK-140 fixed-head coupe and a nice XJ-6 sedan. An old Pontiac woodie wagon, a '58 Dodge, a first-generation Celica (when's the last time you saw one of those), a cream-&-lilac '56 Olds, and on and on.

Italian participation included two Ferraris and a Dino (quasi una Ferrari), a Lamborghini (Murcielago) and a Maserati (3500GT spider).

Pics will be up later in the week.

Let's add some more marques: Austin Healey, Dodge, Jaguar, Mazda (sort of), Morgan, Norton (!), Triumph.

The Mazda was one of three RX-7s there (of two different series) that all had something a little different about them: Corvette engines! I guess this isn't all that different from the Ford-powered Panteras. Maybe we should call them "Mazdolets"?? (Or "Mazvettes"??) :D

"Rosso Dino" is a Ferrari color, but in this case it fits two cars, both at this show, with appropriate plates! The '58 Dodge was the first of the type I've seen in a looooooong time.

The next show will be on Sept. 2; if you're hanging around town on the holiday weekend, come on down! The July show, also held on a holiday weekend, was surprisingly well attended.
