Is there a specific place to route the wire into the boot to avoid it getting trapped and damaged when you close the boot and it seals shut?

I just lower the trunk lid softly so that it almost closes but stays unlatched. This would normally cause the trunk light to stay on, but I got around that by removing the bulb. Its located right there in the same small area as the charger receptacle, and I keep the bulb and cover in the car in case I need it. But I won't ever need it because I don't drive the car at night :)

I put a towel over the female receiver for the trunk lock and gently lower the trunk lid. It doesn't latch and doesn't pinch the cable. As an aside, I modified the interior trunk liner cover, by cutting a hole in it, and mounting the charger port directly to that cover - I got tired of taking the cover on/off all of the time.

In the Cali and Cali 30 there is a small depression in the right rear trunk gasket. Just position the cable in that spot. Then when you close the trunk, the gasket will not pinch the cable. Should be shown in your manual, but I'm not certain of that!

I just leave that little cover panel off all the time.
