Nope, just two, but the one for the transmission should always be changed at the same time.

Thanks to all those who contributed to this thread.
Ordered my parts (Scuderia were awesome), and had them installed on my 2010 today.
The car no longer idles like a dragster - much smoother, without the whole car shaking at certain RPM's.

    Enjoy your cars!

For those of you who did the motor mounts - how easy is it to CHANGE out the headers too? Mine have failed and im thinking of tackling BOTH motor mounts and headers - has anyone changed out the stock headers?

    thx

Wish I could help. I changed my motor and gearbox mounts but I doubt that I would tackle the headers myself. If you don’t mind sharing, what year is your car and how exactly did your headers fail. Thanks.

My dealer replaced the air bags under warranty, and the car rattled in that area after their work. When I complained, they told me that the motor mounts were worn at 5000 miles and that must be the cause of my noise.

Cali T was built with all new 3.9L TT engine
I don’t recall any posts about failing motor/trans mounts.

Scroll down the list of parts on the right side to number 15. The technical name Ferrari uses is ‘Elastic Bushing’ and you’ll see it in the section of the picture on the left side of the page.

At what mileages are the mounts known to fail, for those who have replaced them? Of course you should replace all three, but does one side usually break first? Thank you.

No consistent mileage noted from those who have reported failures, just long before it should have. Everyone I have heard of reported both sides in the same condition.

Only one for the transmission, and it is different from the engine mounts.

    Hi all,

I'm replacing the motor mounts on my '14 California. When removing the subframe some of the threaded inserts came out of the frame along with the bolts and some of the threded inserts came partially out but not completely out.

    My plan is:
    1. Buy new bolts and inserts
    2. Remove the inserts that are partially out but still partially threaded into the frame. I'll use penetrating oil and a heat gun and I guess vice grips? Is there a tool to remove these I should get?
    3. For inserts that stayed in the frame properly I'll leave them as is
    4. Replace inserts and use thread locker. Again is there a tool for this?
    5. Assemble

The new motor mounts are in, now I just need to address the inserts and finish.

I'll be waiting for parts for a few days. I have not had to insert or remove threaded inserts before so I appreciate any advice/experience before.

    Thank you,
    Asa

Update: I got the partially removed threaded inserts out using a M14x1.5 nut and a M10x1.25 bolt. A clever friend suggested this.

I threaded the nut over the insert, then threaded the bolt into the insert and lightly tightened it into the insert. Then I backed out the nut and it grabbed against the head of the bolt - at this point I was able to remove my Frankenstein assembly with a ratchet. No oil or heat needed.

So now I need to source replacement threaded inserts and figure out how to install them. I'll get new bolts as well for good measure.

Here's an update in case someone has a similar issue where bolts get rusted to the inserts and inserts come out.

The closest replacement inserts I could find was on threadtoolsupply.com, they sell M14x1.5 exterior - M10x1.25 interior - 14mm long inserts in carbon steel with a black oxide coating. They also sell the install tool.

Key Locking Thread Inserts: M10 x 1.25, Thin Wall, Steel (Pkg. of 10)
    Product ID: 66155

    Key-Locking Insert Installation Tool: M10 x 1.25 Thin Wall
    Product ID: 67855

These aren't an exact replacement for the OEM inserts but it should be close enough. The OEM inserts are a few millimeters longer and I think have a nickel coating.

I installed them by doing the following:
    1. Clean up the M14 female threads in the aluminum front sub-chassis with compressed air and by running a M14x1.5 bolt in and out a few times to clear debris and residue of the original thread locker
    2. Remove 3 of the 4 keys from the insert using pliers
    3. Screw in and out the insert fully a few times to make sure it can be installed properly
      1. Note: removing the keys from the insert left some metal burs so I ran a M14x1.5 nut over the insert to clean up the threads
    4. Add a few drops of loctite 271 permanent thread locker to the insert and install into the chassis
    5. Instead of pressing the insert's keys into the aluminum I just pulled the 4th one out and relied on the threadlocker to hold the insert in place
The instruction on the loctite 271 are 24 hour cure time so I waited a full 24 hours before reinstalling the subframe.

Everything seems fine and the car felt great driving today with its new motor mounts and transmission mount.
