Hi all, recently bought a 2013 Cali. So far so good, had about a month now. Question: do you take these out on long road trips or typically just drive local? I’ve read over and over again that these cars are pretty reliable. Any reservations on taking the car for say a few hundred mile road trip?

I have a ‘13 also and I very seldom take it more than two or three hours from home, but only because that will take me anywhere from Baton Rouge to Pensacola, which is plenty for me. Mine has been quite reliable for two and a half years and 7500 miles, only needing new motor mounts and a battery. It has its share of electrical oddities, like an occasional false warning light which will disappear when the car is turned off then restarted, but nothing else. I have a full annual done each October by a highly qualified independent shop because there is no dealer within 450 miles of me. I would love to drive in several areas like the Ozarks, PCH or Tail of the Dragon where the fun factor is off the charts, but those places are a little too far away. I wouldn’t worry too much about reliability on a longer road trip though. Have fun, life’s short.

Got a few pictures for us?

Just got mine three weeks ago. Drove it home to KS from OH with no issues & another trip to Ozarks. No issues. I have rented two Californias. A "T" in Sicily & a 2010 in Los Angeles. The Sicily trip was 9 days & about a thousand miles. I did have issues with the power top but the car performed well. The most recent trip in the 2010 rental was from LA to Temecula - then to Palm Springs - then to Joshua Tree Natl Park - & back to LA. I would not be afraid to drive one of these cars about anywhere. I feel all "fun" cars are meant to be driven. No fun in the garage.

Awesome! Thanks for the feedback guys. I’m still a bit anxious but am slowly getting settled in. When I got the car I was waiting for what’s going to go wrong first. The more I drive it the more I realize what a beast it is.

Off subject but I’m having issues updating profile pic? Using iPhone, keep getting error that I don’t have permission even though it’s my profile page.

Longest road trip we've taken was about 500 miles round trip. Plus a few in the several hundred range.
    Performed flawlessly.

Due to work/'rona/family constraints, the wife and I have probably driven it more frequently, but shorter distances - almost entirely point A to point A trips - the past 2 - 3 years. I'd check the battery age, update the tender if necessary, and then enjoy the heck out of it. Regardless of how you use it, the Cali is a great car. Congrats, and enjoy...T

I did Palm Beach to Pittsburgh over two days and 1,100+ miles. Personally had no issues but my leg next to the transmission tunnel always felt cramped and uncomfortable. Unclear why as I haven't seen this complaint much.

5'8" 160lbs. Yes, cruise helped, but not as much as you'd hope.

My first Ferrari 25 years ago was a 348 spider.
Drove her 2600mi round trip from South Florida to Northern Indiana. What a blast and memories till today. Any road trip in any car creates lifetime memories. Throw a Ferrari as the device? Now you’ve got something truly special. So yes that trip was flawless without problems. I would say those cars were less reliable overall than a modern F car. We also had a 13 Cali a few years back and we put 20,000 miles on her mostly trips up the coast in CA or over the mountains to the desert. Never had an issue and great times we had with her. I wouldn’t hesitate. We now have a Portofino M due to deliver within a month and can’t wait to hit the road!

These cars are modern cars with modern reliabiloty. The only thing I would change is the battery if it has the old OE battery in it. Get a Braille B10049 and you are good to go. Have done several 2000-3000 km roadtrips in my Ferraris and never an issue. Doing one again next week in the Pista. The more you drive it, the better it will drive, cars don't like to sit.

Did a 2 week trip from the UK to Northern Spain in a Cali T. in 2019.
I think it was around 2500-3000 miles, it did not miss a beat and was loaded with as much luggage as my wife could fit in! [which is a lot] great car for touring.
Modern Ferraris are much more reliable than people think [ now I have jinked it]

I have found the Cali doesn’t like sitting still.
The more I drive it the more reliable it is.
    I did a 700 mile road trip.
It was motorway/freeway from England up into the Scottish borders and then spirited driving on A and B roads with lots of gear changes and breaking. The car was solid the entire 4 days and was a joy to drive.

I find when it sits and does short journeys I start to get niggles.
I plan on doing the North Coast 500 in May so I have no concerns regarding road trips and recommend you enjoy every minute.

Just pointing out that many people have great joy from short trips and pampering their car and that’s also great. So no matter what you do, just enjoy it!
