Anyone advise on a 2016 cali t. I’ve got it this far . Middle cover off. right and left side seem to be all one part. I’ve undo 2 screws at the back but not sure from here
Here you go: Mine is also a 2016 Cali T. Sadly, the binnacle trim is another over engineered design from Ferrari. There is absolutely no need for these to have so many bolts to get them mounted, and sad part is the remaining bolts are screwed in from the bottom part of the top dashboard trim. The only way to remove them is to remove the entire top trim of the dashboard. (I will be replacing my top dashboard trim soon as the leather on these have also shrunk) How did I remove mine so I can get them re-trimed? (binnacle leather retrim on mine all done.) I will post photos soon. If you want to remove the binnacle without removing the top trim of the dashboard you will have to cut the screws using a japanese dovetail saw. Photos & helpful into attached. Hope that helps. Dan Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thank you so much for this. The only bit that I can not work out is the location of the screws you are say that will need cutting. Any chance of highlighting these for me please tia
Here you go, please see attached: NOTE: When cutting the screws use a small piece of square flat aluminum or hard cardboard to protect your leather dashboard from being scratched by the dovetail saw. Ask me how I know. Hope that helps. Dan Image Unavailable, Please Login
Naw , you can get to those screws from under the dash . Dan , I took mine completely apart on my 2015 Cali T but did not cut any screws or bolts. Don’t remember exactly what I did but you can get to the screws with an extension on 1/4 inch ratchet and simply unscrew them . Hope this helps , james in San Antonio Tx
If you remove the upper steering column cover, you can remove the gauge cluster and access the two bottom screws, instead of cutting them off. FYI (You don't have to unplug any electrical connectors). Total cost to recover the Binnacle was $200
Sorry if I missed this in the post but did you have to replace the leather after removing everything or were you able to just stretch it back in place, re glue, and clip it in place?
James, Do you remember how many screws need to be removed? The 2 from the top of the gauges or underneath the leather seem obvious but I'm confused on on this thread since someone stated, you just need to pry it off, then someone said to cut it off, and I think you are saying you can get to the screws without cutting. So I assume that means there are 2 more screws to undo? If so where are they located? Thanks, Simon
I had mine completely apart several yrs ago and while I don’t recall the exact process, there was definitely no cutting involved. Prying yes, and it took tremendous power to pull the top (binnacle) up and off, but nothing has to be cut.
