Morning chaps, MY2015 Ferrari Cali T. Thought I'd post the question here before taking a 600km round trip to the Ferrari dealer (car has new power warranty). I'm really struggling with the ceramic brakes and don't know whether there's a fault or if they're just not great. Did a long motorway drive last weekend and found them really spongy and when I needed to stop very quickly they just weren't there at all. Really quite scary. Shoved down with all my strength and it felt like the pedal was through the metal with little to show for it. For context I had a 992 C2S previously and it's steel brakes were top notch - had 100% confidence in them. There's some stretches of road and I know the speeds and braking distance I'd need to manage them in the Porsche, couldn't get close in the Cali. My PPF guy told me he thought at least 2 or even 3 of the disks were virtually new so have obviously been replaced recently-ish. So are the brakes just meh by design or do I have a problem?
Yes, change the fluid. The brakes are great. Are you sure a previous owner didn’t replace the pads with garbage? Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Ferrari did an inspection for the warranty and they said it was 100%. I would hope (but who knows) that they would have spotted something like that. I will check and see when the fluid was last changed. cheers
I agree with the suggestions of the others here. Add to that list a proper bedding in, especially if the brakes appear new. I also had mixed feelings about both new and low-mileage factory brakes, but bedding in made a big difference. Best of luck!
