Depends which part of the world you are in

Suggest you update your location and we can give you detailed information

The North American cars were last to get the 30 update and got it a number of months after the rest of the world

Can anyone tell me when the Cali 30s began production? I want to find a used one but am not sure as to how to tell the 30 from the previous model. I'm hoping I can find it by the build date.

It should be MY2013...not sure when the build date started but I think it was around June 2012.

This URL indicates that digit 4 of the VIN is the one that indicates engine type…

Yeah, it's best to use the VIN to identify a Cali30. If you also want to verify the MY here's what I have found from the pattern of California VINs*:
    2014 ZFF65TJAnEnnnnnnn (Cali30)
    2013 ZFF65TJAnDnnnnnnn (Cali30)
    2012 ZFF65LJAnCnnnnnnn
    2011 ZFF65LJAnBnnnnnnn
    2010 ZFF65LJAnAnnnnnnn
    2009 ZFFLJ65An9nnnnnnn or ZFFLJ65AX9nnnnnnn

    *where n = a numeric digit.
Essentially, the factory seems to have started with ZFFLJ65AX9... and ZFFLJ65AnX... in MY2009 and then flipped over to ZFF65LJAnA... where the A incremented alphabetically to B, C... through E, ending in 2014.

At least this is what the Cali VINs that I have seen would appear to imply - you should call the nearest Ferrari dealer to verify.

Aside from geographic variations, the 30's have an X as the 6th letter of the VIN. (the base and T models have something different). A slight complication is that the "date" of the car is the date it was put in service (or maaybe delivered), not the date of manufacture. There are cars with a door-jam placard of 2013 manufacture that are sold and registered as 2014s.

I tell them apart by the vent/gill things on the front fenders. Base model fins are painted the body color. 30's have "aluminum colored" fins and T's have no gli slits, just one sort of slash opening.

The cali30 in the USA have a T as the 6th letter although some may have an X ..also the silver gills and grill were a no cost option on The 2013\14 cali30 ..best thing is check. With a dealer.
