Hello- ive been lurking and enjoying the information you guys consistently offer. I have a couple of questions:

    1. How do you fold down the rear seats?

    2. What is that rubbery button on the driver's side floor?

    3. Why does it seem so finnicky when trying to remove the key after shutting off the engine?

    4. How much would the dealer charge to install driver and passenger aluminum foot rests?

    5. How much would the dealer charge to replace the center aluminum arch separating the two front seats? I bought my car preowned and the metal is scratched in a couple places

    6. On the passenger side, beneath the headliner, is a metal bump (about 1cm) which is not present on the drivers side- is this normal?

    7. When switching between sport and comfort on the Manettino, exactly what aspects of performance are altered?

    8. When idling at rest, particularly after a cold start, the car seems to periodically idle rather rough- is that normal?

Sorry for the barrage of questions and i really appreciate all of your input. Thank you very much in advance for your time and information.

    1. Don't know
    2. One button is gas cap, other is trunk release
    3. Press small circular button by ignition next to where key inserts and it will let key out, otherwise you have to wait a few extra seconds
    4. Dealer install is a crazy ripoff. I got mine from Andrew at Exoticare
    5. Don't know
    6-8 don't know

    Hope this helps!

I'll take a shot at answering the questions I can:

    1. See http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/california/364087-luggage-compartment-issues.html#post141371918

    2. Where on the floor? The trunk release and gas lid release are located near the sill, but I don't recall a button anywhere else.

    3. Did you shut down in neutral or in gear? If in neutral without engaging the parking brake, you activate "car wash mode" which allows the car to roll but prevents the key from being removed.

    4&5. Probably a lot. :)

    6. Could you be more specific about where the bump is? Is it causing the headliner to protrude? I don't have any that I recall. Certainly nothing visible.

    7. Do you have Magnaride? If you do, when switching to Sport, the shocks stiffen for a firmer suspension. Regardless, the shift points change to higher rpms and the exhaust flaps open for more noise.

    8. Not on mine.

    Hope this helps. Good luck.

    The others were answered,

    3. Don't put your car in neutral when shutting it down, just leave it in first gear, all will be well.

    6. Post a photo

    7. Much softer ride if you have magneride, but it also changes the throttle response being VERY sensitive in the Sport mode, manageable in the Comfort mode. In sport the rear end is also allowed to swing much further out before the stability control yanks the car back saving your bacon.

    8. There is a very short period during warm up where the engine controls suddenly make a mixture change and they all stumble at idle for a couple seconds here. I tell everyone it is VERY difficult to get 460 HP out of this small V8 so minor momentary deficiencies like this should be allowed.

Thank you guys for the replies- I appreciate it. The button I am referring to is just in front of the drivers seat and is framed by the cutout in the floor may- not the two buttons on the side for the has and trunk. The bump is weird- I might have to post a picture. It is about midway on the passenger roof edge interior and literally feels like a small metallic lump beneath the headliner- not sure what the heck it could be, but it doesn't seem right.

    5. If you can't get yours refinished I think there is someone else on the forum who was offering to sell his surplus bridge after a CF upgrade.

    7. In addition to other effects, SPORT mode also moves the shift points to higher RPMs, resulting in faster accelerating times and changing the exhaust note from a growl to the "F1 wail".

Ah - that must be the floor button to activate the passenger ejector seat. Have you tried pressing it while driving and your passenger is pointing a gun at you? ;)

Seriously - could you take a picture from a little farther away to show the placement of the button on the floor relative to other components? I don't believe I have this button in my driver footwell and am curious what it is.

I can't really get a wider shot secondary to the placement. This button, or whatever it is, is directly in front of the drivers seat and the floor mat has a little cutout for it. I pressed this thing several times- doesn't appear to do anything.....

I believe that is the FUEL INERTIA SWITCH. It's designed to be used in case of a collision, probably to prevent an engine fire. Seems to function like an ON/OFF switch.

Here's an excerpt from the user's manual.

4th Gear, my hat is off to you. That is probably the quickest anyone has found anything in the owner's manual that actually would help another owner. I'm just PM'ing you directly from now...(not really, don't block me). Sincerely, good job. Bob H

Yes and completely not practical. My wife wears heels ( go figure ) and has studs on her purse. Her side is completely ripped up. FNA replaced the first set but it it started all over again. Basically the plastic over the CF is very thin and can be damaged easily creating scratches that cannot be removed.

I was going to buy them last year and heard the same as your problem from various people...

It doesn't make any sense at all to have carbon fibre carpets ultimately if you think about it. They might look good but unless they put so much plastic on it that they look fake, they will never last and be scratched all the time.
Same problem with carbon fibre door sill plates which I have.

Well Bob, sometimes I need a little incentive to open the manual myself. You're now unblocked. ;)

At least you read the whole thing.

Of course, I was also clueless until I saw the picture in the manual. :D
