I’m getting ready to replace timing chains and variators on our 2013 California 30. Since I’ll be right there at the cams it would be easy to do a performance swap. I’m thinking there are several variations of this F136 engine and stock cams are cheap at around $200 each x 4. The horsepower ratings vary per car model. Wondering if it would be worth swapping in 458 cams? I haven’t found a cam spec sheet between models but guessing that 458 cams would be more aggressive.

I would say it depends. I have not read anything about the motor variations of cali to 458. How much is the same? If you look back at the C5Z06 corvette LS6 motor it was exactly the same motor as the base corvette LS1 motor except for cam, heads, intake manifold and engine mapping. So those 3 parts got you from LS1 to LS6. That's all easy to do with corvettes. But what about Ferrari? I think there is more to the package than cams. Cams by themselves may do nothing and in fact could make the motor not work. Motors work because they are an optimized package.

That’s some of the questions I have. If it made a difference it would be any easy upgrade. btw I have a stroked LS6.

Ferrari camshafts are normally quite optimized for a given duration, so the usual cam tweaks (grind the back of the cam) will not work. More advanced optimizations involve to match ignition. Maybe not easy on such advanced engine.

The largest knowledge base on cams in the USA is CompCams. Here’s their information:
While a simple call to the COMP Cams® CAM HELP® tech line (1-800-999-0853) and short discussion with one of the highly informed tech line personnel will always get you the right answers, having a little personal knowledge on the topic is always a good idea.
