I have a 2013 California and it is out of warranty. I am trying to decide if I should pay the $4500 for a 1 year warranty or not. I have heard these are great and there usually isn't issues. Thoughts on getting it or saving the money?

Just had my 2013 Ferrari California 30 gearbox speed sensor replaced, fortunately under (extended) warranty.

Think about it as health insurance on your Ferrari
    ...
Better to have it and not need it vs Needing it and not having it

Like greyboxer said, there are several in depth conversation on this topic with good opinions on both sides of the fence!

    Welcome to the family,

There are many threads on this subject. Basically whether an extended warranty is right for you boils down to this.

    - If you can’t sleep at night worrying about what ifs, then buy the warranty. It’s worth the peace of mind.

    - If the cost of a catastrophic failure will deprive you or your family, then buy the warranty. (Just be aware what the warranty covers and what it doesn’t cover. Several people have posted here that they bought the warranty only to find out that their particular failure was not covered.)

    - If your PPI revealed a potential, or likely, future significant problem, then buy the warranty.

Keep in mind that for the vast majority of people, buying an extended warranty is a losing proposition. Whatever company is selling the policy, be it for a Ferrari, a TV or a blender, they are making money. And that’s not a bad thing, they are supplying a service.

I find searching via Google to sometimes be more successful than the built in search functional.

    Go to Google and enter

    site:ferrarichat.com ????????

where ????????? is the search terms of interest.

    Welcome and good luck...T

It's funny, just earlier tonight I googled jack points for the FF and the best result was a thread here on FChat!

Yup. I find that many Ferrari related Google searches eventually lead back to this forum.

We did the 2 year add on for our 2013 California. Glad we did, as the top got hung up a couple of times during that period.

I paid $3600 for a 2 year new power warranty when I bought my 2014 Cali HS last March. As my first Ferrari and buying from an unknown owner, I thought it was good piece of mind for the cost. During my recent annual service visit I asked the dealer to check a couple things that I thought might be covered under the warranty. They quoted me $1100 in labor just in diagnosis time before they could even determine if these items would be covered under warranty. I declined and will just take it to a local independent and can most likely get everything fixed for less than the dealers diagnosis price. I likely won't renew the warranty now that I am familiar with my car.
