I'm gonna admit something that Calitalia knows already. I have the California, but am very self conscious about my purchase after the 458 came out. I've been dreaming about the 458 due to its agressive look compared to the SL styling of the California. I've never driven the 458, but it's just much more sexy.

One thing the 458 lacks, however, is the open top. Other Cali drivers I'm sure will say the same thing - when the top is open, the whole car sounds different - and louder. Yes, the 458 eventually will have a convertible option, but it will be quite a bit more than the Cali.

I have the same minor gripes. My stickers have been reordered and will be replaced next week. They have also sent some sort of alignment instructions for the mirrors so I will post how successful that is after it's done.

Love the car! So does everyone else who sees it and/or drives it. Sounds and drives so much better than my hubby's Porsche 911 TT, and even he agrees.

And that hard top..that is always a showstopper!

Hands down yours is nicer! Although I'm not a Porsche guy, I have to admit that his is quite nice. Definitely not your run of the mill 911 Turbo.

I never see the California in any rap videos where you normally see the latest and greatest (still can't figure out how Jay Z got that Maybach Exelero -- tight!) In the past week, I have seen a few 458s, Gucci Mane bragging about his 458, 599 and other Ferraris and heard a top 10 pop hit about the DB9 (Aston Martin Music by Rick Ross and Drake). Additionally I have never seen a pro football baseball or basketball player driving a Cali. All those points would put the Cali on the feminine side of the scale in my opinion.

All those points would put the Cali in the non-tacky side of the scale in my opinion. :)

This might be a slightly European view, but the categories mentioned are not exactly known for their good taste.

Ice9's post reassured me that I have the right car on order...

Thanks, Mike, and I agree with you. It is a very nice looking Porsche. And...to be fair, he wanted a DD, and didn't want an F car getting knocked around. He doesn't worry (much!) about the P, but did allegedly drop a few F bombs at carpool yesterday when the speed bumps caused him to spill his tea all over himself! It's too low for a DD...

This is a joke - right? Tell us your just kidding. I didn't think - and can't believe - that anyone, and especially a Ferrari owner, would ever consider pop culture or sports culture as a barometer for anything. Stop, seriously, stop --- I'm laughing so hard my sides hurt!

Go ahead and classify the 458 and 599 as "tacky" but check out those forums and see what those owners think of the California! It's not flattering.

One of my big gripes is the SAT NAV "release of liabilty screen". Every time you start up the car you have to touch the "I accept" button.

This is really annoying. Perhaps someone can find some "code" to turn off this feature.

Thanks to the OP for this thread.

Regarding a California not being cool (BTW, I would never repeat that "g" word ppl are tossing around) this is a daily driver Ferrari. People get it mostly for that reason to replace a Porsche or something like that. I plan on getting in line for a second weekend track day Ferrari, a 458, so I can spank the GTRs, etc out there, but each day will drive the California.

What are these guys complaining about a California as being uncool driving as their daily drive? A Mercedes? Maserati, BMW, Aston Martin or Porsche? I would rather be driving a California.

This is definately the most "girly" of all Ferraris, because it is the most drivable, daily driver like, and women tend to buy cars for that purpose rather than just to head to the mountains for no reason or take the long way to work. So it is the most poplular Ferrari among women. One of my co-workers, a woman, has one. But that does not make it girly. It is still a Ferrari.

Of course, I would not worry about my manhood even if I drove a pink VW beetle with a daisy on the dash. If you can look manly driving that, then you ARE a man.

In addtition to the above my NAV state is set to Michigan permanantly and everytime I have to enter an address I have to change the state to Texas. I dont understand the logic of that. Maybe theres some way to change the state on the NAV to Texas permanantly? Anyone else have the same problem?

Yes, there is. I did it long ago, but if you google it you can find a youtube clip showing you how to change it. Just be sure to google Chrysler Sat Nav since that's what it's listed under!

When you are in Nav mode, press the Menu button.
There should be a Nav Settings button on the screen. Select it, and there are options to change the default state and country.

Jennifer is right ... nice set of instructions ... I would have written the software in the NAV to start with whatever state you happen to be in right now. But that would make sense. In my software business we try to focus on what makes sense rather than simply writing computer code like many companies do (stupid iTunes needs help here too!!!)

Was nice to drive the Cali top down over last weekend when the temperatures went up to 70's... now its 15 degrees outside :( Was expecting the top to get stuck at closing again but worked fine this time.

Sigh no mjc they didnt... regardless this car is better suited for housewives and retired gentlemen and is not a hardcore sports car like the Scuderia or even 458. Of course I do drive the car every once in a while but the principal driver of the car is my wife.

I'm not sure if "Gucci Mane" owning something is a positive indicator of anything.

"Gucci Mane" has a lot of things that I'm sure you wouldn't want to be seen in public with.

Ironically, most drivers of the 458 Italia are likely retired gentlemen:p

*or the housewives of those retired gentlemen
