Seems like a lot of new California owners have joined the forum. Please do not be hesitant with your gripes about the car!!!

As an experienced veteran of dozens of miles now, I know I have some great insights...

Thus far, the only gripe is wanting to press the accelerator down to see how fast it can go, which is in conflict with my desire not to go to jail or get a citation for several hundred dollars...I've been a convertible guy for years, and enjoy it more with the top down (and windscreen in place) than any other soft top I've owned. Listening to the advice of others, I leave it on auto until it warms up (which is too quiet for my need to hear the engine wind up LOL), and then have fun. Getting in and out of the car is fine, even though I'm a big guy. My wife even likes riding in it, and has begun to enjoy waving to others who are staring and taking photos of the car. I know others dismiss the looks, and understand the perspective of purists. I love the 458, but also wanted a car I could drive more often (not really a DD, but 4-5K miles a year) and I enjoy smaller, rather than larger, cars. I concur the mirrors could be better, especially with the flare of the front fenders while backing into the garage.

My biggest gripe is with the manuals and documentation. The docs do a good job telling you what things are, but not much re specifically how to do something. I have yet to sit and mess around with the TPMS, Homelink, even changing the time on the clock, because I'm pretty confident I'll screw it up a couple times before getting it right. I'm already used to paddle shifting and the lack of a stick, but would want to use the phone, nav, and screen functions without feeling like I'm missing something. Guess I just need a "dummies guide to Ferrari's" or similar.

As a balance, I love having a red car (only Ferrari's should be red; I'll work on a law to that effect...), the DCT has been great to use, the car is more comfortable than I thought it might be, and the 40-100 accel is fun. I used to ride high-perf motorcycles, and had almost forgotten the feel of a machine that would chew up roadway in a similar way. If I can get the screen functions figured out, and after I take it on a longer trip (2-3 hours) to see how I feel, I'll have a better feel for my long-term perspectives.

    Regards, Bob H

Try voice command to setup your phone and nav. Simplest way to pair your phone
    1) Push the voice button or the center button on the left side behind the steering wheel
    2) say "Bluetooth"
    3) say "Pair"
Then follow the instructions and you are done in 30 seconds :)

Unless you have an Android phone with the latest software on it....and it will work 1 time and not work 1,000 times! Dealer said they have never seen this problem before and it's not a problem with the car's bluetooth but it's the phone ;-)

PS The phone pairs and works in every other car I tried perfectly well....
PPS I don't want to go back to an iPhone!

I have a 2013 California and wanted to install a set of Air Horns. I have attached a DIY for installing a set of FIAM air horns available from Amazon for <$30.

    Enjoy.

I had to switch the head unit out for a Kenwood model. Got all the latest features and i got a pair of 8 inch jl subs and an alpine 5 channel amp and focal door speakers and tweeters... Sounds unbelievable now even with the top down and it looks factory!!!
